TVLine Shares Its 2019 Wish List

90210-revival-wish-list-2019

Andy Swift's Wish:

That the brewing Beverly Hills, 90210 revival — or "reboot," as it's being called for some reason — incorporates a few of the characters from The CW's 90210, if only to give the series a proper ending. (Never forget: That finale was so disappointing, AnnaLynne McCord literally recorded her own ending and uploaded it to YouTube!)

abc-shows-wish-list-2019

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That ABC — the network I "grew up with" as a Happy Days, Charlie's Angels and Six Million Dollar Man-loving rugrat — cultivates and launches some new, unarguable hits, to lay a foundation for the future.

american-gods-season-2-wish-list-2019

Kimberly Roots' Wish:

That Starz's American Gods is able to thrive and deliver a stunning Season 2, despite the departure of series co-creators/showrunners Bryan Fuller and Michael Green. (If this sounds familiar, it's because it was my wish last year, too. Man, it's been a minute since this show was on the air, hasn't it?)

american-vandal-wish-list-2019

Rebecca Iannucci's Wish:

That the cancelled American Vandal gets picked up by another network or streamer for a third and final season. I don't need this show to run forever, nor do I think it should — but I wasn't quite ready to say goodbye, either.

cable-news-experts-wish-list-2019

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That TV news programs try much harder to invite the best possible, well-informed panelists to debate an important issue, and not just speed-dial the handiest holder of a contrarian viewpoint. Oh, and have actual scientists on to discuss climate change.

crisis-on-infinite-earths-wish-list-2019

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That the Arrowverse's "Crisis on Infinite Earths" crossover event takes some bold swings and actually kills off at least one of the major characters whose death is dictated by the source material.

Disney+_Logo_Final

Ryan Schwartz's Wish:

That Disney+, WarnerMedia and Apple's as-yet-untitled streaming service launch at reasonable price points. As excited as I am about Apple in particular, I won't pay $15 per month if its library content is inferior to what's already being offered by established players like Netflix and Amazon.

The Woman

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That Elementary brings back Natalie Dormer's Moriarty for one final visit. (Yes, I also wished for this in 2016, but with the CBS drama coming to an end next year, this dream needs to finally come true.)

70th Primetime Emmy Awards, Show, Los Angeles, USA - 17 Sep 2018

Dave Nemetz's Wish:

That the Emmys recognize the shifting realities of the TV industry and expand the major categories to 10 nominees each — Drama Series and Comedy Series, at least.

game-of-thrones-wish-list-2019

Kimberly Roots' Wish:

That Game of Thrones, without succumbing to too much fan service, nevertheless will give Jaime and Brienne a meaningful and satisfying moment (dare I hope an entire scene?) before the show ends its final season.

glow-season-3-wish-list-2019

Rebecca Iannucci's Wish:

That GLOW fully embraces a romantic storyline for Sam and Ruth in Season 3. I didn't know I wanted these two together until that dance scene in Season 2, but now? I totally 'ship it.

Rellik

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That Killing Eve Season 2 lives up to the BBC America drama's stellar freshman run. And that more awards show voters would recognize that the series simply wouldn't work without the brilliant Jodie Comer.

lauren-graham-wish-list-2019

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That the much-missed Lauren Graham returns to TV on a regular basis. Her Curb Your Enthusiasm stint was nice, but it was more of an appetizer. I'm ready for the full meal.

les-moonves-cbs-wish-list-2019

Matt Mitovich's Wish:

That in the wake of so many painful and upsetting allegations of on-set and behind-the-scenes sexual harassment and impropriety, some sort of regulated, industry-wide process is put in place to monitor and safely report such behavior.

Midnight, Texas - Season 2

Kimberly Roots' Wish:

That a streaming video service recognizes the bats—t joy that is Midnight, Texas and picks up the NBC castoff so the sultry, supernatural fun can continue.

netflix-shuffle-wish-list-2019

Andy Swift's Wish:

That Netflix finally introduces a "shuffle" button. (Look, sometimes I know I want to watch Friends — I just can't decide which episode. Decide for me, Netflix!)

oitnb-final-season-wish-list-2019

Ryan Schwartz's Wish:

That Orange Is the New Black, which has been good, albeit not great these last two years, manages to turn things around and go out on top with a creatively resurgent seventh season.

rent-live-fox-wish-list-2019

Rebecca Iannucci's Wish:

That Fox's live version of Rent (in all of its hopefully uncensored glory) lives up to my unfairly high expectations, and fills Grease: Live's massive shoes.

Are You Ready For Some Zombies?

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That iZombie star Robert Buckley is cast in a comedy after the CW series wraps up. Having interviewed the actor multiple times over the past five years, I can attest that Buckley is hilarious.

sabrina-riverdale-crossover-wish-list-2019

Dave Nemetz's Wish:

That The CW and Netflix find a way to work out the logistics and we get the epic Riverdale/Chilling Adventures of Sabrina crossover we've been waiting for.

Saturday Night Live - Season 44

Ryan Schwartz's Wish:

That Saturday Night Live diversifies its hosting slate in the back half of Season 44. (Of this fall's nine hosts, seven of them were straight white men.)

schitts-creek-catherine-ohara-wish-list-2019

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That Catherine O'Hara be on the receiving end of some kind of stateside awards recognition for her uproarious portrayal of socialite-turned-pauper Moira Rose on Schitt's Creek. It doesn't even have to be an Emmy. At this point, I'd be happy to see the long overdue O'Hara walk off with one of those Teen Choice surfboards.

scream-season-3-wish-list-2019

Andy Swift's Wish:

That MTV — or Paramount Network, more likely — finally forks over that lost third season of Scream, which was filmed back in 2017. Honestly, I don't even care if it's good. I just want it.

907-Down Like the Titanic

Vlada Gelman's Wish:

That the beleaguered Fiona gets a happy sendoff when Emmy Rossum exits Shameless at the end of Season 9.

sharp-objects-eliza-scanlen-wish-list-2019

Rebecca Iannucci's Wish:

That Eliza Scanlen scores an Emmy nod for her electric work as Sharp Objects' Amma Crellin. Co-stars Amy Adams and Patricia Clarkson are equally worthy of kudos, but Scanlen was positively bewitching in the HBO limited series.

star-trek-picard-wish-list-2019

Dave Nemetz's Wish:

That the upcoming Star Trek Jean-Luc Picard series lives up to my galactically high expectations. (Although, to be fair, he just needs to order a cup of "tea, Earl Grey, hot," and I'll be sold.)

the-affair-alison-wish-list-2019

Ryan Schwartz's Wish:

That The Affair's Noah, Cole and Joanie learn that Alison did not in fact die by suicide, but at the hands of mentally unstable boyfriend Ben.

JAY R. FERGUSON, SARA GILBERT

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That the inevitable second season of The Conners capitalizes on the comedy one-two-three-four punch of Sara Gilbert, Johnny Galecki, Jay R. Ferguson and Juliette Lewis by featuring an episode in which Darlene and new beau Ben join David and new-ish girlfriend Blue on a double date from hell.

tv-shows-ending-wish-list-2019

Dave Nemetz's Wish:

That networks and streamers provide us with a fresh influx of bold, innovative TV shows to replace all the great ones — Crazy Ex-Girlfriend, Mr. Robot, Jane the Virgin, You're the Worst, Broad City, Orange Is the New Black and more — we're saying goodbye to in 2019. (That's quite a void to fill!)

veronica-mars-mac-wish-list-2019

Michael Ausiello's Wish:

That Hulu's Veronica Mars revival gives the Marshmallows the big Mac fix we — and the character — deserve. Even a medium Mac fix will suffice.

younger-josh-claire-wish-list-2019

Andy Swift's Wish:

That Josh is not the father of Claire's child on Younger. I realize that's a long shot, but Claire is just the worst. Neither Josh nor the audience deserves to be tethered to her any longer.

This Is Us - Season 3

Kimberly Roots' Wish:

A happy, healthy, safe, totally normal and uneventful birth for Kate and Toby's baby on This Is Us. The show has already mined newborn trauma for all it's worth, no? Bring on the onesies and bad Toby diaper jokes!
