Coronavirus Interrupts TV: Which Seasons Will Be Shortened?

Since February, TVLine has thrown a lot of information at you about which series will (and won't) be affected by the coronavirus pandemic. We're now here to help by doing what we all must in a time of crisis: organize our asses off. In our case, that means compiling an exhaustively comprehensive and up-to-the-minute list of TV shows and noting how, if at all, their production has been impacted.

For some programs (quite a few, actually), the news is good. Modern Family, for instance, had already wrapped its final season before one studio after another began shutting down. For other shows, the news is... ummm, less good. Among the series experiencing interrupted seasons are Supernatural and Empire, both of which are currently airing their own farewell seasons.

All 18 episodes completed; current third season (which resumed airing on March 16) not impacted.

All 13 episodes completed; upcoming final season (premiering Wednesday, May 27) not impacted.

HAWAII FIVE-0

All 22 episodes completed; the final season, which concluded on April 3, was not impacted.

HOMELAND

All 15 episodes had finished filming; the final season (which resumed on Thursday, April 2) is not impacted.

KILLING EVE

All eight episodes had finished filming; the current third season was not impacted.

LEGENDS OF TOMORROW

All 15 episodes (including "Crisis on Infinite Earths" Part 5) had been completed; current fifth season not impacted.

MANIFEST 

All 13 episodes had finished filming; the second season (which concluded April 6) was not impacted.

MODERN FAMILY

All 18 episodes had finished filming; the final season (which concluded April 8) was not impacted.

OUTLANDER

All 12 episodes completed; current fifth season not impacted.

ROSWELL, NEW MEXICO

All 13 episodes completed; current second season (which premiered March 16) is not impacted.

SCHITT'S CREEK

All 14 episodes completed; the final season (which concluded April 7) was not impacted.

SINGLE PARENTS

All episodes had finished filming; current second season (which resumed Wednesday, April 15) is not impacted.

STATION 19

All 16 episodes had finished filming; current third season not impacted.

MAGNUM P.I. 

All episodes had finished filming; current second season not impacted.

ALL RISE

Production was halted as the CBS drama was nearing the end of its Season 1 order. The May 4 virtually-produced pandemic episode will serve as the season finale. 

BATWOMAN

Nineteen of 22 episodes had finished filming when production shut down. A shortened season is likely. Update: Episode 20 will actually serve as the season "finale."

BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA

Production was halted as the Chuck Lorre comedy was nearing the end of its Season 1 order. Its finale (Episode 20) aired on April 13.

BULL

Production was halted as the Michael Weatherly-led drama was nearing the end of its 22-episode order. A marginally shortened season is likely.

CHARMED 

Roughly 20 of 22 episodes had finished filming when production shut down; the status of the remaining episodes is TBD.

CHICAGO FIRE 

Production was halted on Dick Wolf's Windy City procedural as it was nearing the end of its 23-episode Season 8 order. Season finale (Episode 20) aired April 15.

CHICAGO MED 

Production was halted on the third entry in Dick Wolf's Windy City franchise as it was nearing the end of Season 5's 23-episode order. Season finale (Episode 20) aired April 15.

CHICAGO P.D. 

Production was halted on the Chicago Fire spinoff as it was nearing the end of its 23-episode Season 7 order. Season finale (Episode 20) aired April 15.

DYNASTY 

Twenty of 22 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down; production on remaining two Season 3 episodes is TBD.

EMPIRE

Eighteen of 20 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down. Ersatz "series finale" aired Tuesday, April 21 (though a "proper" sendoff may be down the road, maybe).

FBI: MOST WANTED 

Production was halted on Dick Wolf's FBI spinoff as it was nearing the end of its Season 1 order. CBS is expected to forgo the remaining unproduced episodes, with the marginally shortened season airing its finale on May 5.

FBI 

Production was halted on the Dick Wolf procedural as it was nearing the end of its Season 2 order. Update: This season's 19th episode will serve as the finale, airing Tuesday, March 31.

GOD FRIENDED ME 

Production was halted just shy of the CBS dramedy's Season 2 order. Now cancelled, a two-hour series finale airs April 26.

GREY'S ANATOMY

Twenty-one of 25 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down; the status of Season 16's remaining four episodes is TBD. Update: "Season finale" aired April 9.

LAST MAN STANDING 

Twenty-one of 22 episodes had finished taping when production was shut down. Erastz Season 8 finale airs April 30.

MACGYVER

Production was halted as the CBS drama neared the end of its Season 4 order. A marginally shortened season is likely.

NCIS: LOS ANGELES

Production was halted as the CBS procedural neared the end of its 24-episode order. A marginally shortened Season 11 is likely.

PRODIGAL SON

Production was halted just shy of the rookie drama's 22-episode order; the status of the remaining Season 1 episodes is TBD. Update: "Season finale" airs Monday, April 27; the season will be cut short by two episodes. 

RIVERDALE

Twenty of 22 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down. A marginally shortened Season 4 is likely.

SUPERGIRL

The show was midway through filming its season finale (Episode 20) when production shut down. A rejiggered version of Episode 19, which includes a bit of footage originally filmed for Episode 20, will serve as the fifth season finale.

SUPERNATURAL

Only 13 of 20 episodes were completed when production shut down, bringing a premature halt to the final season on March 23 (full details here). 

SUPERSTORE

Twenty-one of 22 episodes had finished filming when production shut down; current fifth season ended with Episode 21 (full story here).

S.W.A.T.

Twenty-one of 22 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down. A marginally shortened Season 3 is likely.

THE BLACKLIST

Eighteen of 22 episodes had finished filming when production was shut down. A shortened season is likely. 

THE FLASH

Twenty of 22 episodes had finished filming when production was halted; the status of the remaining Season 6 episodes (resuming April 21) is TBD.

THE GOLDBERGS

Production was halted just shy of the ABC comedy's Season 7 order; the status of the remaining episodes is TBD.

THE GOOD FIGHT

Roughly 8 of 10 episodes had finished filming; production on the remaining two Season 4 episodes is TBD.

THE NEIGHBORHOOD

Twenty of 21 episodes had finished taping; current second season will likely run one episode short.

THE RESIDENT

Production was halted just shy of the medical drama's 23-episode order; the status of the remaining Season 3 episodes is TBD. Update: This season's 20th episode, which aired April 7, served as the "season finale."

THE VOICE

All taped shows have been completed; the status of live shows, slated to kick off Monday, May 4, is TBD.

YOUNG SHELDON

Production was halted just one episode shy of the Big Bang Theory spinoff's 22 episode order. "Season finale" airs April 30.

NCIS: NEW ORLEANS

Production was halted as the CBS procedural neared the end of its 24-episode order. A marginally shortened Season 6 is likely.

NCIS

Production was halted as the CBS procedural neared the end of its 24-episode order. Update: "Season finale" (aka Episode 19) aired April 14.

SEAL TEAM

Work came to a halt while the CBS drama was simultaneously in production on Season 3's final 2 episodes (No. 21 and 22). A marginally shortened season that ends with Episode 20 is likely.

LAW & ORDER: SVU

As showrunner Warren Leight revealed on Twitter, the long-running NBC procedural halted production four episodes shy of its 24-episode order. Update: "Season finale" aired April 23.

LEGACIES

Production on the show's second season has halted. "Season finale" aired March 26.

AMERICAN IDOL 

Episodes will continue to air as scheduled through the beginning of the live shows, which are slated to kick off in mid-April. Live episodes will be recorded/judged from homes.

NANCY DREW 

The CW mystery drama was nearing completion of its 22-episode Season 1 order when production came to a halt. Expect a marginally shortened season. Update: "Season finale" aired April 15.

NEW AMSTERDAM

The NBC medical drama was believed to be nearing completion of its 19th or 20th episode (of 22) when production shut down. Update: Because a pandemic-themed episode was shelved, the season ended with 18 episodes, with the finale airing April 14.

THE BOLD TYPE

Production on the Freeform drama was halted as it was nearing the end of its 18-episode order. Season 4 will now conclude with Episode 16.
