On March 28, 1997, the ABC Daytime sudser The City — a Loving reboot of sorts that was known for its FilmLook technique, Laura Wright on rollerblades, and a groundbreaking if ill-fated transgender storyline — ended its 14-month run. The General Hospital spinoff Port Charles filled its time slot months later.
