Whether Nathan finds that he can go home again — and reunite with the “late” Megan (to be played by Abigail Spencer rather than Bridget Regan in Season 14) — we hope his heart decides that it doesn’t want to. Mer may, as she claimed in Season 13’s finale, be cool with letting him go. But we invested too much time getting to know and kinda like Riggs to give up their relationship just when it was really getting started.
Happily Ever Laughter
Speaking of Megan, her resurrection should give Owen one less thing to scowl about in Season 14. Now, how about Amelia? Caterina Scorsone is too good at comedy to go whole episodes without being allowed to crack a smile, never mind a joke. Maybe since the Hunts are at last back on speaking terms, they can move past their baby/no-baby drama and resume the honeymoon period that was over quicker than an appendectomy.
Once upon a time, we suggested that Jackson and Maggie might make a cute couple. Now, ironically, we’re not sure the chemistry is right between them. (Maybe it’s a subliminal stepsibling thing?) Still, that doesn’t mean that the docs’ budding flirtation couldn’t develop into the sort of delectably messy love triangle that would make Avery realize that the only significant other he really wants is… the one from whom he’s divorced — April.
Doctor, Feel Good
We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: DeLuca got screwed. After letting Alex get away with nearly ending his medical career in order to protect Jo’s secret, Wilson wouldn’t even consider looking at him as more than a friend. So, in Season 14, we want to see Andrew in a romance that’s at least as much fun as his affair with Maggie was. It’s all well and good to give him a sister, but what one of the show’s sexiest docs — and, with that hair, arguably, the true heir to the McDreamy mantel — really needs is a girlfriend.
If it isn’t in the cards for Sara Ramirez to bring back Callie for a visit — and, according to executive producer Debbie Allen (Catherine), it isn’t — why not extend an invitation to Sandra Oh to return Cristina, however briefly, to Seattle? If the actress can steal a little time away from her forthcoming series, Dr. Yang could not only question how OK Meredith really is with forfeiting Nathan to his lost love Megan, she could — and somebody sure needs to — talk some sense into her ex Owen’s mercurial new wife, Amelia.
During Mer’s suspension in Season 13, April got a taste of power — and, aside from her colleagues calling her a turncoat, she seemed to like it. So we wouldn’t mind seeing the fallout if Kepner allowed her onetime monster-in-law Catherine to continue making her over in her formidable image.
If At First You Don’t Succeed…
We knew the prognosis for Arizona’s romance with Eliza wasn’t good when Robbins’ abrasive Season 13 love interest wound up almost making us miss Callie’s polarizing Season 12 squeeze Penny — and she killed Derek! (Hey, we said almost.) In Season 14, how about getting Arizona into a relationship with someone a little more likable. There may never be another Callie for Arizona, but please, may there never be another Minnick, either.
‘I Do’ It Already!
There are two things that we know for sure about Alex and Jo: (1) They have handled their relationship horrendously, and (2) they love one another. Whether that love is the healthy, mature kind… eh, that’s debatable. Regardless, after the docs prescribed us more ups and downs than we’d get on a roller coaster, we deserve to see them extricate her permanently from her marriage to her abusive husband (Matthew Morrison, returning as Paul) and tie the knot themselves.
