If you were surprised to see Sarah Newlin pop up at a guru retreat on Sunday’s True Blood — as a brunette, no less! — you’re not alone. Even Sarah’s portrayer, Anna Camp, says she was taken aback by the twist.
“It’s not what I expected at all,” Anna tells TVLine of her character’s Season 7 whereabouts. “She’s definitely on the run; she’s got Pam and Eric after her now, and the Yakuza. … This season is about Sarah trying to survive.”
In addition to surviving, Camp reveals she’ll also be doing some reuniting with a former flame — more specifically, the love of her dead gay vampire ex-husband’s life. (That’s a sentence I never thought I’d type.)
“It’s not in a way that you would expect,” Camp says of her reunion with Jason. “It actually can be pretty funny and pretty sad. It’s very unexpected the way that I end up interacting with Jason this time around.”
Camp also says she’s been surprised by Season 7’s victim tally, noting Tara’s “harsh” death in the season premiere: “They’re wasting no time getting down to the final core members of the show.”
