NBC on Friday became the second broadcast network (after CBS) to unveil its schedule for the Fall TV season. What shows are on the move, where did new ones land, and what’s on hold until midseason?
♦ Quantum Leap is making a leap… to Tuesdays (in New Amsterdam‘s old time slot), after airing Season 1 on Monday nights.
♦ Several returning shows are on hold for midseason, including La Brea Season 3, Magnum P.I. Season 5B, Lopez vs. Lopez Season 2 and Law & Order: Organized Crime‘s shortened fourth season. Speaking to Organized Crime‘s delayed return, Jeff Bader, President, Entertainment Program Planning Strategy for NBCUniversal Television, told TVLine, “We just know that they don’t have a new showrunner yet, which is why it’s nice to be able to give them a little time and then come on midseason.”
♦ Other midseason fare includes Deal or No Deal Island (which relocates the game show to “The Banker’s private island”), Season 3 of the Canadian hospital drama Transplant (read more), and The Americas, a Tom Hanks-narrated series that will “showcase the wonders, secrets and fragilities of the Americas – Earth’s largest landmass.”
♦ The fates of American Auto, Young Rock and Grand Crew remain TBD.

So the voice has been renewed? I didn’t see any announcement about that. Any ideas who will replace Blake Shelton although no one can replace him.
They really need to break up the Chicago shows. Having them all on the same night is exhausting.
The dull, reimagined Magnum should never have been given a reprieve by NBC so the longer it remains on the shelf the better. All the showrunner shenanigans is creating real damage for Organized Crime and now their storylines won’t really be able to integrate with those on SVU. Wasted opportunities.
I’m sorry you don’t enjoy Magnum PI. It may not be exactly like the original, but it is a fun show with an amazing cast of characters who have become like a found family. The scenery and the cast are also nice to watch. Its large fanbase was very happy to have NBC reprieve this show – which was only let go from CBS due to licensing issue (not ratings) – and fans will continue to watch it as long as NBC produces new shows. Lets just hope the network starts to film Season 6 as soon as the WGA strike is over, so we have content for Fall 2024 as well.
I agree and well said!!
I ALSO AGREE….I THINK MAGNUM IS A GREAT SHOW TO WATCH ESPECIALLY FOR THE GREAT SCENERY
Magnum isn’t going to air in the fall on NBC. NBC picked Magnum up to fill a time slot on Sunday’s after Sunday Night football ends in January. It was a really good move by them as Magnum has an audience and it fills a need for them. Wouldn’t surprise me if their Sunday post football lineup was Magnum, La Brea and Transplant.
I read the plan is to have La Brea, which has a short season, on Tuesdays, in between cycles of Voice results. So comedies, La Brea, Quantum Leap. That said, any of the three shows mentioned could be moved to fall/other slots if the strike lasts long enough to impact the return of the Dick Wolf procedurals.
This iteration of Magnum is nothing but a boring travelogue populated with lackluster actors. I’m glad others enjoy it whereas I couldn’t make it through a couple episodes. The so-called romantic leads are neither attractive nor have chemistry with each other. I understand YMMV. End of discussion for me.
Absolutely Another Show We Have To Wait Midseason To Watch. DO BETTER NBC
Unfortunately, it is a classic no win situation because if they hadn’t held certain shows to mid season, then other shows would have been held off, and fans of those particular shows would have had the same complaint as you do.
Magnum is not dull. You might be watching a different show. I like the new Magnum better than the old one. New show is for the time period we are in now. Most of the reality shows should not be on TV. they are terrible. They should be put on the shelf.
It really is a bore, it was something I could never get into.
Sorry you don’t care for Magnum, but a lot of us do. I really hate Organized Crime and would be happy to see it put to bed permanently.
I don’t like it when SVU and OC have so many crossovers. I like each show to have their own storyline. It’s fine once in a while, but when they get too much, it gets tiresome. I really didn’t like when SVU crossed over with the Chicago shows, which I don’t watch. I think it was 5 minutes with Benson and the rest of the show was people I didn’t know or care about.
Was nervous to open this article since all I care about is American Auto. Stilllllll nervous….
Yeah same but I think this highly leans towards cancellation. I think it was going to be one comedy renewal and it went to Lopez vs Lopez.
Yeah, I fear you’re right. I’m hoping if nothing else, it could be shuffled off to Peacock for a third season? But I don’t know how likely that is.
Sadly it doesn’t look good. Love that show and season 2 was even better than the first
Does anybody know if the Canadian show Coroner will be on the CW? I happen to really like Canadian shows like Coroner and Transplant.
No news since this: https://tvline.com/2022/08/23/coroner-renewed-cancelled-season-5-serinda-swan-leaving/
its been cancelled by cbc
Sadly after the star and main character left the series it was canceled.
Love Transplant it’s a great show and I’m so happy it’s back for 2 years. Also love Magnum but would like it to start at regular time. I am thrilled it’s alive though.
Part of me understands why they would hold #MagnumPI for a mid-season start date again, but its going to be a long summer and fall without the 2nd half of an already filmed season. I really hope #NBC recognizes what a loyal fan base Magnum PI has, as announces Season 6 before May 2024. Please heed the fans NBC execs, and bring it back for S6 and beyond.
I thought NBC was removing the 10:00 pm eastern hour. Are they not doing that now or is that going to happen later?
It was never definitely going to happen. It could still happen in a season, two, or more, nothing has been announced. I hope they’ll keep it for a while.
Cmon Young Rock! Yay Lopez vs Lopez. Extended Family looks good.
Agree about Young Rock. Those characterizations of the old WWF stars are on point!
SO was there an actual reason provided for the shortened L&O:OC order? Because they can’t seem to get a steady showrunner or Chris Meloni wants to be free to do other things?
Finally we get Found, I’m excited for it.
At least American Auto ended like a series finale in case it doesn’t get picked up. I really hope it does but I doubt it will get another season.
I’m glad about OC getting a shortened season. I hope if it gets renewed for season 5 that it continues like that because the bite-sized format makes it easier to keep up with. I can’t tell if this finale is connected to the bigger season 3 story or not.
Still waiting for the second half of All Rise. Oprah seemed so anxious to scoop it up but then seemed to drop it midseason. At least finish it up!
Making us wait for La Brea is just mean!!
Sure would be nice if there were trailers for these new shows.
LOL 😂 That would be interesting!
Didn’t here The Wall was renewed for Season 6 unless they are going to split Season 5 episodes. I do like that show and it was MIA for so long. I’m glad to see it is finally back. I wonder how long ago they actually filmed the episodes that are airing now.
Good to see Jesse back on NBC (The Irrational)
I don’t think Grand Crew is coming back. It ended like a series finale. It was fun watching the characters move on with their lives.
The shows I watch are mid-season save 1.
Quantum Leap already started filming in the spring, so did La Brea down under, Magnum 5B has wrapped and Transplant S3 is already in the can (already aired in Canada).
With above announcement, I presume NBC is showing commitment to writers, reassuring them their spot on the schedule is reserved, but if the strike goes for too long, turn to plan B, NBC will need something to fill september and october, therefor moving up reality shows, Magnum, La Brea, Transplant, The Americas, and 1 or 2 Peacock originals.
Feh! The only two NBC shows I watch are being held for mid-season. LaBrea is silly but fun, so my heart won’t break. Having to wait on L&O Organized Crime, on top of its fewer planned episodes, is painful. Showrunner trouble STILL? Wish the Wolf universe would get it together!!
still shocked that Quantum got renewed. Maybe the move will help it. Seemed to be struggling. Looking forward to Wednesdays for now.
WHY WOULD YOU BREAK UP LAW AND ORDER THURSDAY’S. NBC UNIVERSAL IS REALLY SCREWED IT’S VIEWERS
They aren’t “breaking up” the Law & Order shows, Organized Crime is getting a shortened season because they don’t have a showrunner yet. I’m sure it will be on at the same time it is now when it does come back.
Will miss the Blacklist
Quantum Leap was a disappointment. We stopped. La Brea was okay first season. We stopped in second season. Blacklist is finished. Chicago PD has gotten stale. Hard to watch now.
Other than NFL nothing else of interest. Honestly, none of the OTA Networks have any shows we watch anymore except FBI. Just sports.
