Ratings: Nashville Ends (ABC) Run on Up Note, Draws 10-Week Audience High

ABC’s Nashville ended Season 4 — and likely at least its ABC run — with 4.2 million total viewers and a 0.9 demo rating (per finals), rising 12 percent and a tenth week-to-week to hit 10- and 6-week highs.

TVLine readers gave the season(/series?) finale, which opted at the last minute for a cliffhanger ending, an average grade of “C+.”

Opening ABC’s last night of May Sweeps, a Finding Nemo broadcast reeled in 4.2 mil and a 1.3 rating.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

FOX | With Empire gone, Rosewood (3.5 mil/0.8) dropped 27 and 43 percent to season lows. Wayward Pines opened Season 2 with 3.1 mil/0.9, down from its freshman premiere and Season 1 average (both of which were 3.8 mil/1.0), as well as its finale (4 mil/1.2); readers gave the return an average grade of “B-.”

THE CW | Arrow (2.2 mil/0.8, average grade “C+”) was up 13 percent and a tenth with its finale, hitting a 4-week high in audience; versus its Season 3 finale, it was down 20 percent. Supernatural (1.8 mil/0.7, average grade “B+”) rose 13 percent and a tenth, drawing its best audience since Feb. 24; versus its previous finale, it was steady.

NBC | Heartbeat (4.2 mil/0.7) and the Chicago PD finale (6.9 mil/1.4, average grade “A-“) were steady. Law & Order: SVU‘s finale (7.2 mil/1.6) surged 24 and 23 percent to hit/equal its best numbers since Feb. 17/March 2.

CBS | The Price Is Right‘s final primetime edition (6.7 mil/1.2) delivered its biggest audience of the three, with its demo landing right in the middle. The renewed Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders closed its freshman run with 5.7 mil/1.0 and 5.2 mil/1.0, down 10 percent and a tenth from its previous double pump average.

  1. Kevin K says:

Price is Right must bring back the Million Dollar Spectacular sometime in the near future because it haven’t been on in eight years but the reality themed specials (Survivor, Big Brother and Amazing Race) were bad in my opinion. TPIR should be put into retirement.

  2. kmw says:

Nice for SVU, bad for Rosewood. FOX is going to need a miracle to get Rosewood to even keep those numbers against Grey’s football and TBBT. Not a great lead in for a show FOX is high on next season. Good for Nashville that it rose but too bad it ended on a cliff hanger. I know they probably didn’t have enough time to change it but maybe some network will pick it up

  3. Hurley says:

Wasn’y Nashville doing better than Shield?

    • Shaun says:

don’t matter,SHIELD is Marvel and Marvel eats everyones cookies.

    • No.Shrild has been doing better than Nashville and got s4 for syndication.Onky shows rating lower than Nashville this season in ABC were the also cancelled :Agent Carter,Blood & Oil,Wicked City,Family,Galavant.

  4. Mia says:

I think me and every (javery?) Other “nashy” would like to know is if there is any real chance of the show being pick up by another network or not.

  5. Gerald says:

Glad Arrow was up. It was an exciting finale with high stakes. The season was more about magic and darkness. I liked that the Hope of the city was what helped take down darhk. Good team work. Good fight sequences. (Best stunt team on television) And no not a cliffhanger finale, but with all the characters futures unknown makes it interesting. I look forward to next season.
ALSO Happy the way Supernatural resolved the Darkness issue. It was a great episode. Not bad for a 11th season finale

  6. Midnight says:

The fact Arrow is down 20% year over year from the Season 3 finale (which wasn’t a critically well-received season or finale to begin with) tells you how off the rails Season 4 went with the fan-service writing.

  7. Alicia says:

So pleased for #Nashville such an under rated show. Praying another network picks it up for S5. LionsgateTV I know are doing their best to secure a deal.

  8. Harriet says:

TV shows are meant to entertain the audience and Nashville always did that for me. Plus there were amazing songs sung by good singers and songs you could not hear anywhere else. This show was unique. I’m so sorry to see it go and be replaced with more reality or game shows. There are enough stress causing problems in our daily lives, so being able to forget about them and enjoy an hour of excellent entertainment was wonderful. I hated the cliff hanger ending and hope ABC will reconsider and continue airing this fine show for another season.
