Outlander Stars on Claire's Baby Bump, Jamie's Ex, More Season 2 Scoop

Those of you who swooned, back at the beginning of Outlander‘s first season, when Jamie recited his family’s motto in French are gonna be in heaven 36 seconds into this interview.

Because that’s when star Sam Heughan busts out just un peu of the language skills he’s been practicing in advance of Season 2, which finds Jamie and Claire living in France.

Heughan — along with co-star Caitriona Balfe, series creator Ronald D. Moore and author Diana Gabaldon, on whose books the series is based — visited TVLine’s Comic-Con interview suite at the Hard Rock Hotel to talk about the Frasers’ adventures abroad, including Claire’s burgeoning pregnancy.

Balfe’s fake baby bump is “great fun to poke,” Heughan jokes. The pair also laughed about the dynamic between Jamie’s time-traveling wife and Annalise de Marillac, Jamie’s old flame whom he encounters again in Versailles.

“Are you saying you’re bored of me?” Balfe teased her co-star.

Finally, try as he might, Michael Ausiello couldn’t get Moore to confirm whether or not the second season will follow the structure of its source material, Dragonfly in Amber.

“It’s nice to preserve a little bit of the mystery for even people who have read the book,” Moore said.

Not sure I understand the bringing in the ex-girlfriend who is not really an ex-girlfriend idea.

    • Sue says:

Jamie was terribly young when he first met her and now he is an experienced, married man who can no longer be manipulated. It fits that he should be exposed to her again. Be patient,, it will work out. READ the books!!!!!

I have read the books. This is how I know she’s not really an ex-girlfriend. Still don’t understand why they’d bother to bring it in when they have a limited amount of time/episodes to cover everything from the book. Doesn’t seem important enough in comparison to everything else.

  2. Ash says:

Yeah I’m not liking how they keep calling her an ex. She lead him on and then chose the other man come time to actually make a choice. Other then that small irritation I am so PUMPED for season 2!

Why, oh, why do we have to wait? We didn’t get an announcement about Bree or the premier date. That Ron is a modern day Scrooge.

  4. Liz says:

Oh God, I can’t wait till 2016. It’s just too darn long!! I just love this show, the whole cast, the costumes etc…

  5. Carla says:

I wish that they would go more by the book. I do not want to watch Jamie having feelings for his ex. In the book He sees her but does not talk to her. Don’t change up a good story. I will not watch the series if this is to come to pass. Don’t change the story!!!!!!
