Will NCIS get a blast from its past? When will She-Hulk cross paths with Daredevil? What fun twist will Ghosts scare up for Halloween? Read on for answers to those questions plus scoop on many other shows.
I was wondering: Now that Bull is done, will Michael Weatherly make any appearances on NCIS? –Cathy
I delivered your inquiry, shared my many, to showrunner Steven D. Binder, and his first response was, “Wouldn’t that be great?” But from there, he turned skeptical. “When [Michael] left NCIS, he said to me, ‘I am never going to do network television again,'” Binder related. “He had just had some kids, and the hours are so long… but then this Bull thing landed in his lap, and again he was working like a fiend. So I suspect — forgetting Tony DiNozzo for a minute — that Michael Weatherly is on vacation. I’ve known him for a while and I think he needs to chillax and go someplace tropical. I haven’t spoken to him about that but we’ve talked over the years, and that’s my guess.”
Will New Amsterdam have any kind of a time jump following Helen’s phone call? –Craig
The final season premiere (airing Sept. 20) opens with “a montage just takes us through the summer so we’re really on the same timeline as the audience,” showrunner David Schulner says.

It sounds like the showrunners are keeping these castings very close to the vest — and I applaud them for that. When I checked in with them last week, Patrick Schumacker said, “We have some interesting guest stars we can’t spoil for you yet. But we’re shooting right now with someone I’m very excited to be working with, who people will recognize and who plays someone from, let’s say, Barbara’s past. We’ll leave it at that.”Any early intel on Good Trouble Season 6? –Dana
You may have noticed that showrunner Joanna Johnson let slip in our finale post mortem that Callie will not be happy with Mariana when she gets wind of her sister’s undercover mission in Season 5, so we had to ask: Does that mean we’ll get an update on what’s going on with Callie and/or Jamie in Washington next season? “Yes, that’s certainly the hope,” Johnsons said, but stopped short of revealing any more details. Some people think that the way NCIS: Hawaii‘s Lucy treated Kate after discovering her ex had something to do with her past. Regardless if it’s true or not, are we going to know more about Lucy’s backstory, maybe her family, in Season 2? –Julia
I relayed your Q to the showrunners, and EP Chris Silber kindly wrote back, “As we dig deeper into the relationship between Lucy and Whistler, we will absolutely get to know both of them better, unraveling their pasts to allow us to understand where they’re heading.” -
Image Credit: CBS Got scoop on the new season of one of the most underrated comedies on the air, Bob Loves Abishola? –Yolanda
I am hearing that in the Season 4 premiere of Bob Hearts Abishola (airing Sept. 19), Bob is going to buy a boat after a midlife crisis of sorts.Any scoop on Fate: The Winx Saga Season 2? –Hele
Beatrix is always worth keeping an eye on, but Sadie Soverall’s unpredictable character proves especially crafty in the Netflix drama’s second season, which is considerably faster paced (and even darker) than its first. Bloom may the it girl at Alfea, but Beatrix’s journey turns out to be similarly monumental, albeit it for very different reasons. Of course, all of this will make much more sense when the new season drops on Friday, Sept. 16.Do you have any scoop on where Ghosts might take us in Season 2 (premiering Sept. 29)? –Laura
“We have a Halloween episode where we sort of play with the idea that, on Halloween, some of the boundaries between the living and dead can be thinned,” co-showrunner Joe Wiseman tells TVLine. -
Image Credit: CBS Given the emphasis on family in the last episodes of NCIS: LA, will we see more of the agents’ home lives in Season 14 (premiering Oct, 9)? –Alyssa
As will be detailed in our in-depth NCIS: LA fall preview, Callen is planning a wedding (or at least trying to), Deeks and Kensi are learning to parent a kid who is far from a kid, and Sam will be laboring to convince his dad to spend his days at a senior center. “But there’s a little twist, where Raymond meets someone and doesn’t get home until very late,” showrunner R. Scott Gemmill told me. “So, it backfires a little for Sam!”What’s in store when All Rise returns? –Alicia
“You’ll see some people that come back into the world in the back half [of Season 3] that you didn’t get to see in the first half,” showrunner Dee Harris-Lawrence previews. Bonus teaser: The show’s return (exact date TBA) will also include “a blooming relationship, possibly, for Sherri,” the EP says.Any idea when Daredevil shows up on She-Hulk? We’re almost halfway through the season already. –Derek
I cannot say exactly when, but I do offer you this to chew on: When I asked Kat Coiro — who directed the first four episodes, plus Episodes 8 and 9 — about the “biggest” episode she tackled, she singled out the premiere, but then added, “…and without giving too much away, there’s a certain someone who comes in later in the season, and it’s a pretty big episode.” (I then asked if she directed a Daredevil episode, and she hedged, “I will never tell.”) So… maybe there is some math that can be done? -
Image Credit: CBS Will Baez be back on Blue Bloods? –Maryjo
Not only will the detective and new mom (played by Marisa Ramirez) be back when Season 13 opens on Oct. 7, but showrunner Kevin Wade says to expect “some comedy gold from Danny Reagan (Donnie Wahlberg) giving parenting advice to a single mom with an adopted child.”As much as I enjoyed last week’s Harley Quinn, it would have been great to hear some original Batman: The Animated Series voices. Any idea why that didn’t happen? –D.J.
During my talk with outgoing showrunners Justin Halpern and Patrick Schumacker, the latter said that if the HBO Max series were ever to enlist B:TAS alumni, it’d be for a different kind of episode. “We of course kicked around ideas of, like, a multiversal kind of thing, but I think we need a fresh angle of that,” the EP said. “It cant just be, ‘Let’s do Spider-Verse! Let’s do No Way Home!’ If we can find a really fresh take on it, for sure, we would love to have [Mark] Hamill, Arleen Sorkin, Tara Strong…. The fans would love it, and we would love it as fans. We’ll see if we can make that happen down the road.”Want scoop on a favorite show? Email InsideLine@tvline.com!
