Will Criminal Minds‘ BAU face an in-house adversary? Will Walker reunite with Geri? Has Stranger Things‘ Nancy/Jonathan ‘ship been sank? Read on for answers to those questions plus teases from other shows. (You can and should email any brand-new Qs to InsideLine@tvline.com.)
Any scoop on Criminal Minds’ upcoming Season 16? –Dennis
Hey, would it really be Criminal Minds if there wasn’t some clashing with the Bureau’s upper management? I am hearing that in the Paramount+ revival, Prentiss’ role as team leader will be challenged by a new deputy director who doesn’t quite share her view on how best to run the BAU. (Grrr, sounds like this new suit needs to binge Seasons 2-15.)
Will Genevieve Angelson be doing both Handmaid’s Tale and New Amsterdam? –Craig
I’ve actually heard that Angelson already wrapped filming her Season 5 Handmaid’s role. Even so, there are currently no plans for her to return to New Amsterdam (for its farewell run), where last season she recurred as Dr. Mia Castries.
In Season 2 of Fox’s The Cleaning Lady, will we get some backstory on how Arman hooked up with Nadia? –Yolanda
Executive producers Melissa Carter and Miranda Kwok confirm for Inside Line that as Season 2 begins unspooling on Monday, Sept. 19, “We’ll reveal more about their backstories when Nadia’s ex-lover enters the picture and drives a wedge between Arman and Nadia. Now standing to lose everything, Arman has to fight to keep his world — and his dignity — intact.”

“Listen, my mother was very upset when he tried to move on [with Twyla]. I got an earful about that,” Walker showrunner Anna Fricke says with a laugh. “I feel bad saying that I’m always trying to thwart [Walker and Geri]. I’m not. I really believe in Walker and Geri, and I feel like they have to earn each other. And I also think that, originally and ultimately, Walker’s origin story, at least as we know him, is as a widow, a man who’s grieving. We can’t lose sight of that, that he doesn’t just bounce back right away. This is a man who suffered great loss in his life, his children suffered great loss, and so it’s going to take a while for him to become the person I think he needs to become to really let love in.”Any news on All Rise? –Marlene
Ruthie Ann Miles tells TVLine that the midseason finale airing Aug. 9 is “the episode that we have dubbed The Insurrection, because it is the pivoting point for the rest of the season.” And here is where we’ll remind you of star/EP Simone Missick’s tease that “something dramatic happens at the courthouse and somebody might not make it.” As Miles added, “It’s very messy — messy in many ways.” Bonus Scoop: Viewers this season will meet Sherri’s parents, who come from “a very non-modern world” (and will be played by Keone Young and Nancy Lenehan), Miles says. “We get to explore Sherri’s background and see where she came from, and we get to see maybe why she’s a bit type A and why she needs control over things, because of the out-of-control nature of her childhood and her upbringing.” -

In this Sunday’s antepenultimate Season 4 episode, one of the main characters beats the (not-exactly-)living daylights out of a drone host, which is plenty fun to see. Will Bar Paly and Peter Cambor will be made series regulars on NCIS: LA this season? –Ellie
I like your thinking, especially re: Bar aka Anna aka the future Mrs. Callen, but I am told that there will be no series regulars added this season.Hi, Matt! Any word on a Season 2 of Barkskins? –Bernadette
NatGeo’s drama about the arrival of English and French colonists to the New World was a limited series, so no additional seasons are planned.Any teasers for these final episodes of Animal Kingdom?? –Lori
With only five episodes left, ever, this Sunday’s “Gethsemane” reveals just how far Detective Thompson will go to bring Catherine’s killer to justice (Spoiler alert: pretty damn far!), as well as the lengths to which Pope will go to protect at least a couple of his loved ones from being dragged down with him. -

I’ve been in that position for two years — going back to the end of Season 7, when we had [WestAllen] renew their vows — and I’m in the same position now. So let’s just call it ‘a friendly challenge’ for myself and the writers.”
“I hope!” is the short answer from showrunner Eric Wallace — though as he has said when discussingAny idea when we might see Netflix’s Blockbuster series? I need Melissa Fumero on my TV again! –Geoff
We all want that, Geoff! I greatly miss huddling with the One Life to Live alum at TCA parties over the years, to get the latest on Brooklyn Nine-Nine. Filming has wrapped on Blockbuster, I hear, but no release timetable has been set yet.Is Holey Moley on the chopping block? I love listening to Rob Riggle and would be sadly disappointed if it’s canceled after the low-rated season finale. –Anthony
I asked around for ya, and there is no news to share, yet, on the manic mini-golf competition’s fate. (But as this column has noted on previous occasions, reality-TV/game shows as a rule aren’t being renewed as swiftly as they used to be. We live in different times.) -
Image Credit: Netflix screenshot I just finished Stranger Things Season 4 and loved it. (I know, I’m extremely late to the party.) Given what Steve told Nancy at the end of the season and what the Duffer Bros. have mentioned in interviews about putting some Season 1 groupings together for Season 5, how worried should I be as a Nancy/Jonathan ‘shipper? –Sarah
Well, when we asked the Duffers whether they themselves are Team Jonathan or Team Steve, Ross for one deferred, “We love all the characters so much, it’s hard to choose.” Ross then noted that Nancy’s eyes surely were opened by Steve’s maturity in Season 4. “The last time Nancy really spent time with him was the first couple episodes of Season 2, where he was a very different person,” Ross reminded. “That was pre even his bromance with Dustin, so the Steve that Nancy knew and spent time with is not the Steve that we have all come to know and love.” Matt Duffer then directed some waves at your ‘ship by saying, “Steve has grown immensely, as has Nancy, so what happens when you add that on top of the fact that she and Jonathan [were] separated by such distance” for almost the entirety of Season 4?How worried should Evil fans be for Kristen’s husband? –Lainie
“You should be terrified for Andy,” Evil co-creator Michelle King told TVLine when we delivered your Q. “I think that’s a succinct way of putting it, yeah,” her husband/co-creator Robert King added.Want scoop on a favorite show?
