Trevor Noah Links Melania Trump's RNC Speech to Kardashian Snapchat

The Daily Show on Tuesday began its Cleveland-based coverage of the Republicans’ “Unbelievably Classy and Tremendous and Huge and Good” National Convention by taking a closer look at Melania Trump’s controversial — and potentially plagiarized — speech.

Trevor Noah wasn’t so much worried about whether or not our next potential First Lady stole from Michelle Obama’s 2008 Democratic National Convention address, but more concerned with what the Trump campaign’s decision to dismiss plagiarism claims indicates about a possible Trump administration.

“It would have been so easy for [the campaign] to just own up and say ‘Hey, this happened,’ especially when this is a lie that not a single person in America believes,” Noah explained. “And guys, this isn’t even a policy thing. What it is, though, is a preview, because this group of people given actual power will put us in some deep s—t.”

Noah then aired what he claimed was official footage from Kim Kardashian’s Snapchat account that showed a conversation between Kanye West and Mrs. Trump, in which she said that she was borrowing words from the current FLOTUS’ speech as part of a “remix.” (The doctored video, of course, was parodying Kardashian’s recent Snapchat that featured a conversation between West and Taylor Swift that was published without Swift’s consent.)

What did you think of Noah’s opinion on the Trump speech scandal? Thoughts on Night 1 of his RNC coverage overall? Sound off below.

    Um, where’s the video?

The Orange Clown is a lying, thieving, manipulative, racist, sexist, cheating, cowardly, ablelistic, hateful, misogynistic, hypocritical ageist. Now we know his porn-star wannabe immigrant wife is a liar, cheater, and thief as well.

There’s a sucker born every minute, and the Clown is taking full advantage of that truism. All you losers, drinking his Kool-Aid, thinking he’ll benefit you somehow, if you’ll only express your cloying admiration. As the brilliant Stephen Hawking so rightly observed: the Orange Clown is a demagogue, appealing to the lowest common denominator. So, this is where you’ve come to. Pathetic.

  2. Rob Horine says:

Does Noah have anything to say about Biden being a plagiarist? Check it out, it happened in 1984.

    • Daniel snow says:

You know what happen when joe Biden got caught he owned up to it and dropped out of the 1988 I presidential race. Wow see the difference, one party taking responsibility for their actions, the others don’t. So why does Noah have to mention it Biden when he already paid for it plagiarism? Maybe it should be mentioned to show people should be held accountable for their actions? Which the entire Republican Party is not including their wives and probably their kids.

    • Mary says:

This might be hard to follow but we are talking about Mrs. Trump speech on July 18, 2016 not what happened in 1984. I am sure you had many opinions when Biden did it but that is ancient history and I believe he faces the consequences back then. There is where the truth lies he took responsibility unlike Trump who never has because he cannot or should I say will not be a responsible mature adult.

    • The Kaibosh says:

You have missed the point in spectacularly ignorant fashion. If the Trump campaign and the Republican party are prepared to dig in and deny what is so obvious, and do it for something so frivolous,if they were to have real power then they would be tremendously dangerous.

I don’t understand what is wrong with the American people, including all these delegates who were cheering for Trump so avidly during the convention. Are they all insane? What do they think when this person wins the election without any previous political or experience in government and has to go out in the world where yes, there are other nations than the USA in existence, and have to deal with people like Kim Jong-Un of North Korea, President Enrique Pena Nieto of Mexico, and any other head of state whom he has insulted during his campaign. The fact that this person was chosen to lead the Republican Party is mind-boggling. It is the true dumbing down of America to the lowest possible level – that of religious right-wing, uneducated extremists who love their guns more than anything else in the world. As a Canadian living next door I feel very, very unsafe and I fear for the worst possible thing to happen.

  4. Judith Hoskins says:

Trevor made the only intelligent remark re Melania’s plagiarism: “Let’s hope Melania continues to emulate Michelle Obama and that she convinces her husband to continue Obama’s policies.”
