Chicago Fire Scoop: Friday Night Lights Vet to Replace Mills as New Medic

Chicago Fire Dora Madison Burge

Chicago Fire has tapped Friday Night Lights alumna Dora Madison Burge to guest-star in the final three episodes of Season 3 as the new paramedic in charge at Firehouse 51, TVLine has learned.

Burge’s Jessica “Chili” Chilton is a vivacious young medic who finds herself teamed with Sylvie Brett. With the firehouse still mourning Peter Mills’ departure, Chili faces an uphill battle in her new workplace.

The casting marks Burge’s second appearance in the Chicago universe: After impressing producers during her Fire audition for Brett, she landed the role of Antonio’s informant JellyBean on Chicago P.D.

Chicago Fire Dora Madison BurgeExecutive producer Matt Olmstead tells TVLine that the show will acknowledge the fact that the two characters are played by the same actress.

There will be “a little nod toward the fact that her nickname is Chili, because her last name’s Chilton and she has a sister that actually left Chicago to go be with her other sister in Kansas City,” the EP explains. “It’s worth it to just throw away that she’s the sister of a character we saw once upon a time on P.D. and never go back to it. We’re never going to play twin scenes… I can’t think of anybody better for the role than her.”

Burge, whose TV credits also include Star-Crossed and Dexter, makes her Fire debut on this Tuesday’s episode, “We Call Her JellyBean.”

  1. Mr. Tran K says:

Madison Burge was adorable on FNL. Didn’t she played Becky Sproles on the show?

  2. Dean says:

Oh that’s original, a latina and blonde paramedic duo.

    • it doesn’t say anything about her being latina
in fact her character’s last name chilton is english
i can’t find what nationality(s) she is but dark skinned doesn’t always mean latina
& even if she is latina i’d rather them hire actors based on talent & how they fit the chacter than simply “sorry no dark complexioned people we’ve done that pair up before”

      • Kim says:

Darker skinned?? She’s definitely not dark but more of an olive toned light tan. She could be anything. Ukrainian, Greek, latina, Native, Mixed (black/white), French, etc. There are many possibilities so if you don’t know guessing is not the best idea!

    • Wordsmith says:

Kind of like how Brett showed up and looked exactly like Shay, which was weird for everybody. It works, if they handle it right.

  3. Terri says:

Ugh….I never like her on FNL

    • bill says:

Becky was the best character on FNL during the later seasons. Glad to see Miss Burge on TV again.

      • ? says:

Yeah totally. Don’t know how anyone could have not liked her on FNL . . .

I guess this means we’re stuck with ridiculous firefighter Dawson? Bummer.

      • liame says:

If you thought she was the best character on FNL then that doesn’t say much about FNL. Be real, her acting was horrible, she looked good on camera because casting directors always throw in something for nothing.

  4. Isaac says:

I trought Rafferty would be back

  5. Television says:

Don’t ruin this show by adding female characters so there can be the love triangle in the house scenes. The reason this show was successful was because it was realistic, love interests can be outside of the job.

    • Wordsmith says:

Maybe they are adding female characters so that… you know… there can be more female characters? Because they only have two out of a cast of 12 or so?

  6. Amber says:

I’m still so angry with these idiot writers over Mills.

  7. aurat22 says:

So she’s only a guest star? Wonder why they keep playing ring around the rosy with the paramedic team?

  8. Proxy says:

This is probably the Android apps for everyone who wants to help music of their device.
You can readily spend a little more money and outsource your recovery
must a data center, but you should make certain that this expense is gloomier than the
money that you would lose during recovery operations on-site.
The reason for this is because fiber optic cables are made-up of
conducting light material and so transmit the sunshine from the end to an alternative end.

  9. Avinash says:

Does anyone know why Mills left, or is it just for the sake of the storyline?

  10. Ana says:

Tbh she’s not that good of an actress so I’m not excited AT ALL. Bring Mills back.

  11. meatwad says:

I’m so used to seeing her with curly hair that at first i said, that chick was not on FNL lol

  12. Bill says:

I really hated to see Charlie Barnett leave, but I think Dora Madison Burge will do nicely.

  13. john dontcare says:

    Chicago P.D. S2 E1 – “Call It Macaroni”

on this Episode she is Antonio Dawson’s CI
    He also called her “jellybean”
