The Late Late Show With James Corden Gets March Premiere Date

The Brit is coming! The Brit is coming (in March 2015)!

Indeed, CBS has set a premiere date for The Late Late Show With James Corden: Monday, March 9, at 12:37/11:37c.

Corden is succeeding Craig Ferguson, who in April announced his intention to leave Late Late Show after 10 years and will sign off on December 19, 2014.

In announcing Corden’s official premiere date, CBS also revealed that producer, director and writer Ben Winston (The X Factor, One Direction’s “Best Song Ever”), a friend of Corden’s since their teenage years, will serve as the Late Late Show‘s executive producer. Winston’s projects include producing Corden when he hosted the prestigious Brit Awards for four years and directing and co-writing several “Smithy” sketches with Corden for BBC1’s Red Nose Day charity telethon.

“We’re excited to begin CBS’s next chapter after midnight and introduce James’ wide range of performance talents and fearless creative instincts to American television viewers,” said Nina Tassler, Chairman, CBS Entertainment. “He and Ben have been friends for a long time and partnered together on a variety of successful projects. They are a creatively dynamic and very energetic host/producer combination.”

Corden has appeared on a number of British TV programs, including Doctor Who (playing Craig Owens), Gavin & Stacey (Which he cocreated, winning a BAFTA Television Award for his performance), The Wrong Mans (for which he earned a Royal Television Society Award) and Fat Friends. He’ll also appear in Disney’s upcoming musical movie Into the Woods, as the Baker. In 2012, he won a Tony Award for his work in the play One Man, Two Guvnors.

It’s going to take nearly three months before James Corden takes over The Late Late Show but I can’t wait to tune in beginning March 9, 2015. No word on when Late Show with new host Stephen Colbert will debut.

  2. David4 says:

Interesting that there will be three months of repeats. I just assumed he would take over when the mid season shows come out late January.

  3. Iakovos says:

Looking forward to Corden but will have to say… Why does every network offer a late-night talk show? I long for some counter programming. ABC’s news half hour post-Kimmel is good, but I would like more options. Really, they all seem the same.

a fat foreign guy with a good agent. A woman half of his size would never be allowed to host a late night show . Not an american one , not even a british one and hell not even a black woman , not even a US one . Mindie Kaling could own this , SMH !

    • Tran says:

Corden made famous in the UK series Gavin & Stacey. He also will be starring in the upcoming film Into The Woods.

  4. No one can replace Craig. I’ll be tuning out after Colbert in 2015.

  5. Drewer says:

Yay! Can’t wait, Corden is the best!
