What to Watch Thursday: Community and 2 Other Premieres, Penny's Big 'Bold' Question and More

CommunityOn TV this Thursday: Community returns with a double study session, The Taste sizzles up a second season, the hunt for The Assets is on and will The Big Bang Theory pop the big bang question? As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm The Taste (ABC) | Two-hour Season 2 premiere: Judges Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Ludo Lefebvre and Marcus Samuelsson winnow a group of culinary hopefuls down to this season’s 16 competitors.

8 pm Community (NBC) | Double-episode Season 5 premiere: Jeff returns to Greendale to gather evidence for his former law partner (played by Rob Corddry, Childrens Hospital) and gets ambushed by a Pelton-organized study-group reunion. Then, Professor Hickey (Jonathan Banks, Breaking Bad) shows new teacher Jeff the ropes; Kevin Corrigan (Grounded for Life) returns as Professor Garrity.

8 pm The Big Bang Theory (CBS) | Penny’s big break – a role on NCIS – doesn’t go well, prompting her to ask Leonard “a bold relationship question” (per the official synopsis). Might tonight be the night she makes good on the deal they struck in February?

  • “new teacher Jeff” though I’m sure it was a given, this may be a spoiler.

    • maybe you don’t watch much nbc elsewhere, but it’s in like every promo. especially during NYE.

      • You’d be right. NBC doesn’t exist here, so I can’t watch their promos, and all their online videos are region locked.

        • I know. It’s so annoying. As a Canadian, every time an NBC video pops up I can’t watch it. What also annoys me is that the Canadian channels never give us previews for a show’s next episode at the end of an episode so we get no promos whatsoever.

          • Some NBC videos do show up on Youtube. Sometime from them, heh. But yeah, it does indeed suck.

    • Probably do the same, after I download and watch the new Sherlock since I can’t wait two more weeks or whatever it is for PBS to get it.

  • Community! I can’t wait 2 see the Re-Pilot, & see Jonathan Banks. The sad thing, there only 13 episodes, and Danny is only in five.

  • Everybody, watch Community instead of TBBT. BBT doesn’t need the ratings boost like Community and Community is easily the superior, more intelligent show. The quality of BBT really took a massive nosedive after season 3. With Harmon back on board at Community, it should (hopefully) deliver the goods. Oh, in case it wasn’t clear, I’ll be watching Community tonight!

  • Elementary is new tonight, with Moriarty helping on the case. Looks to be the best option in the 10/9c time slot in my opinion.

  • I am glad to see some of the shows will have new episodes tonight. At least we will not have to wait another week or two. What I will be watching is The Big Bang Theory, The Millers and Elementary. Parenthood, will be DVR. Also, I will be watching Grey’s Anatomy when they return hopefully with Meredith & Christina having resolved their sniping at one another.

Did you hire out a developer to create your theme? Superb work!
