The Simpsons Exclusive First Look: Rachel Maddow Has a Message for Kent Brockman!

Breaking news: Rachel Maddow has roots in…Springfield?

Yes indeed, the MSNBC anchor guest-stars on this Sunday’s episode of The Simpsons (8/7c on Fox), and we’ve got your first look at a flashback to her days of co-hosting a talk show with none other than Kent Brockman.

In the first photo below, we see Maddow and (a darker-haired) Brockman on the set of Eye on Springfield, where they’re interviewing muscle-bound Austrian film star Rainer Wolfcastle about his classic actioner Skull Crusher 4: The Concussioning.

The second image is from the present day, where Maddow visits Brockman and tells him the biggest mistake he ever made was not following her to cable news — an invitation he’d rejected years prior because he was afraid to make the leap.

The episode, titled “Four Regrettings and a Funeral,” marks the return of Fox’s Animation Domination after a World Series break, but don’t let the title fool you: This won’t be the pivotal Season 25 installment where a regular character gets killed.

The official episode description reads as follows: Four Springfielders are prompted to try to right past regrets following the funeral of a beloved neighbor. Homer (Dan Castellaneta) regrets selling his Apple stock to buy a bowling ball; Marge (Julie Kavner) worries she caused Bart’s (Nancy Cartwright) rebellious streak; Mr. Burns (Harry Shearer) reminisces about a romance he gave up with a beautiful Parisian woman; and Kent Brockman (Shearer) admits he was too afraid to leave local news and follow his former partner Rachel Maddow (guest appearing as herself) to cable news. Also guest-voicing in the all-new installment is Joe Namath as himself.

  • 1) Who
    2) Who cares?
I miss Simpsons. The show that existed before it’s title was given to what is basically a spin-off, that should now be called “Springfield.”
Hopefully the character they kill off is all of them.

    • Sorry, #1 should be “Who?” I know because my opinion is disliked, everyone will attack me for it, so I’ll nip this part of my post in the bud right now.

      • Oh no Matt. I won’t attack for a silly little punctuation error. I’ll attack you for arrogant view that just because you aren’t interested anymore in The Simpsons that somehow translates to nobody else is either.
