What to Watch Thursday: New Girl's Special Date, Hannibal Is Served, Men at Work and More

Men at WorkOn TV this Thursday: A fancy fellow interrupts a New Girl date (on a special night), NBC serves up a first course of Hannibal, the Big Bang guys try for tenure and TBS’ Men get back to work. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 10 programs to keep on your radar.

8 pm The Big Bang Theory (CBS) | Regina King (Southland) is back as Mrs. Davis when Leonard, Sheldon and Raj fight for tenure – and the competition heats up when the girls get involved.

8 pm Community (NBC) | Susan B. Anthony was a pioneer for women’s suffrage. Sophie B. Hawkins sang “Damn, I Wish I Was Your Lover.” The distinction between the two will prove very important tonight.

8:30 pm Two and a Half Men (CBS) | Jake cheats on his girlfriend (returning guest star Jaime Pressly, My Name Is Earl) with her 18-year-old daughter (Emily Osment, Hannah Montana). Scott Bakula (Quantum Leap) also appears.

PREVIEW | Grey’s Anatomy Season 9 Spoilers – Meredith’s Results Are In

9 pm Person of Interest (CBS) | Finch has a dilemma: A leading tech exec’s number comes up, but is she working in her company’s best interest or planning to destroy it from the inside? Also: Sarah Shahi (Life) returns as Agent Shaw. (Get a little scoop!)

9 pm Project Runway (Lifetime) | The designers create looks that guest judge Jordana Brewster (Dallas) will wear in the May issue of Marie Claire.

9 pm New Girl (Fox) | Special night: Jess and Nick go on a proper date (though only one of them is sure that’s what it is), where they run into “Fancyman” Russell (returning guest star Dermot Mulroney, Enlightened) who’s out with a special someone himself. (Watch a video preview!)

9 pm The Office (NBC) | Everyone’s excited to see the first promos for the documentary (check out photos), but Angela’s not psyched to learn that Dwight is dating a Brussels sprouts farmer. Elsewhere, The Philadelphia Phillies’ Ryan Howard, playing himself, meets with Jim.

9:30 pm The Mindy Project (Fox) | Special night: Mindy tries to make a male prostitute (Josh Meyers, That ’70s Show) into her own personal Pretty… Man. (Watch a sneak preview!)

PREVIEW | Scandal Scoop: Is It Over for Cyrus and James?

10 pm Hannibal (NBC) | Series premiere: Bryan Fuller hannibal screen cap(Pushing Daisies) introduces us to a pre-Silence of the Lambs Hannibal Lecter, a brilliant psychiatrist and — unbeknownst to the FBI — cunning serial killer (played by Casino Royale‘s Mads Mikkelsen, pictured). G-man Jack Crawford (Laurence Fishburne) recruits gifted criminal profiler Will Graham (Hugh Dancy, The Big C) to consult on a string of murders, then has Lecter help the emotionally unstable Will manage the horrors he faces. Caroline Dhavernas (Wonderfalls) co-stars. (Get scoop and find out what inspired Fuller to tackle Hannibal and Will’s “great untold bromance.”)

10 pm Men at Work (TBS) | Season 2 premiere: Tyler comes up with a plan to create Milo’s perfect woman online; Gibbs experiences a different side of Neal while driving to a family engagement.

  • This Hannibal show is going to be awesome! Everyone watch it live, the other shows already have renewals so if your going to DVR something DVR those and give Hannibal a chance to survive.

  • With all the hype surrounding tonight’s episode of Scandal I am surprised it didn’t make your list. And why is Fox changing the time of New Girl? So annoying.

Comment by Vanica – April 4, 2013 08:15 AM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • They’re not changing New Girl’s time, they’re just airing a few episodes out of sequence while Glee is away.

  • Just a general note or more a question the big new show tonight Hannibal. A dane and yet again a brit playing an american role…..Im a brit and im starting to wonder why US casting agents have to employ UK actors in american roles on american shows. ( well thats how its starting to look).

Im not looking to start a flame war here about UK/US acting. There both as good as each other but surely it must be more practical to hire a US actor,

    • Americans tend to be a little on the chubby side from all the crap they put in our food. Europeans are a little more svelte. The casting choices are as simple as that.

  • Grey’s Anatomy. #1, Scandal #2. Period. DVR: BBT, Parks and Rec. and Hannibal, just out of curiosity. Wow, for a site that writes about Grey’s quite often, it doesn’t seem to have much love for it. On a Thursday at 9 you are recommending Project Runway over Greys? Really? Especially on the night that Meredith finds out whether or not she has the Alzheimer’s gene. And the post-show recaps are dreadful. I get that you don’t have to like or support every show but perhaps it could be less obvious.

  • I just hope NBC sticks with Hannibal, no matter what. I’m hesitant to get involved in watching a new series ever since I fell in love with Wonderfalls and Rubicon.

  • Red widow started slow-but this show is one which is catching fire. ABC has been doing a great amount of rash canceling-LIKE soaps. But back on topic if Red airs continues to air after Scandal I think it will catch on..
