Based on upcoming Alloy books written by Kass Morgan, the project is set 97 years after a nuclear war has destroyed civilization. A spaceship housing the lone human survivors sends 100 juvenile delinquents back to Earth to investigate the possibility of re-colonizing the planet.

Avgeropoulos — who recurs on The CW’s Cult, which was recently moved to Friday night following two low-rated outings — will play Octavia, an illegally second-born child who grew up hidden in captivity. She is an independent spirit who follows her own path.

Additionally, Australian actress Eliza Taylor (Neighbours) has been tapped for the lead role of Clarke, a passionate and rebellious “delinquent” sent down to the dangerous world of a post-apocalyptic Earth. As the daughter of the surviving colony’s chief medical officer, she also holds some important secrets.

Rounding out the cast are Henry Ian Cusick (Lost), Bob Morley (Home and Away) and Eli Goree (Emily Owens, M.D.).

Alloy TV’s Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo serve as exec producers alongside Matt Miller (Chuck) and Jason Rothenberg, who penned the script.

  1. Derek says:

Oy…. the use of “delinquent” just really makes me not want to watch this show.

  2. Fabe says:

She is a very good choice. I was wondering who they would put in this one; I had my mind set on Phoebe Tonkin, but since she’s in The Originals this is a great pick.

  3. Summer says:

You know, she would have been perfect for their Wonder Woman pilot. She’s even (partially, at least) Greek.

  4. Mike says:

You can always count on the CW to bring the pretty.

  5. Amanda says:

So since Cult’s actors are pretty much now ditching the show…two more weeks tops till they pull the plug?

    • kavyn says:

I thought they had everything filmed a while ago…

    • Drew says:

Actors always have other projects. I’m not sure is she was a regular anyway, but even the stars of TV shows will often line up other projects, just in case. Those projects take second position and if their contract for the first show is picked up, they are replaced on the second show.

  6. Lauren says:

OMG Bob(by) Morley!? I used to love him on Home and Away. Yay for him!

  7. dude says:

She is AWFUL on Cult. Absolutely no subtlety. She plays every scene like she is furious at everything, including the coffee table.

  8. I love the CW but they need to have a a couple non Sci Fi shows or alients, vampires stuff in the mix. I followed 90210 and gossip girls and though towards the end the story telling and characters didn’t grow much i liked it cause it was some what relatable and based on humans. The CW already has TVD which is doing good, they are doing the originals which iw ill watch beauty and the beast, arrow, supernatural and nikkita they need more just normal shows like hart of dixie and carrie diaries.

    • Autumn says:

But those aren’t doing well. They might as well do genre shows since those are the shows getting ratings.

    • Johnny Whatshisname says:

Can never understand why people want to waste time watching television shows about regular people doing regular things, like all those dull teen dramas seem to show. TV gives you a chance to explore the fantastic and the out-of-this-world. To watch characters and events that will stimulate your imagination and excite you. If you want normal people to relate to then go outside. The world is swarming with them.
