Hot for Winter: Your January Premieres Calendar

Midseason TV ScheduleYour New Year’s resolution for 2013 is to hereby… continue watching a lotta TV.

To that end, and by popular demand, TVLine presents this handy calendar of more than 70 tune-in dates. You’ll find January′s biggest season premieres – including fresh batches of American IdolJustifiedCougar Town and White Collar – as well as the arrival of newbies such as Fox’s The Following and The CW’s Carrie Diaries (both of which, by the way, are good stuff).

Midseason series premieres are denoted in BOLD, and we’ve also included a few finale dates — including the very final episodes of Fringe and 30 Rock. (Unlike last year, we have not denoted when each and every current series returns from the holiday hiatus. So, be strong, everyone; your show will be back sooner rather than later. Er, unless you’re talking about Revolution or Grimm.)

Read more about the broadcast networks’ midseason slates at these links: ABCCBS, Fox, NBCThe CW.

Now, click the thumbnail calendar of the midseason TV schedule below, and save the dates!

TVLineJanCalendarR6Preemptive P.S. My calendar-making skills are not infallible, so if you spot something that is (theoretically) missing, drop a note in Comments and I will (possibly) make updates as warranted.

P.S. No. 2: The tinted box in the lower right corner offers a peek at some select February 2013 dates.

  • It’s kind of sad to see Parenthood having it’s finale in JANUARY :(

    • Clearly the networks want to get more shows into their schedule rather than allow the faithful followers of a great show to see a full season, fall to spring. I’m getting pretty tired of this “bait and switch” technique. Just when you get comfortable with a set schedule, you have to “preview” a new show in a time slot that held a favorite. Boooooooooooooorrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrring!

  • Wooh for Portlandia, Justified, Cougar Town, Girls, and Shameless! Lots of award ceremonies coming up too, I see. Critics Choice Awards are on The CW? Crap, now I have to figure out what channel that is so I can watch them. Nominations for the Critics Choice just came out today. I feel rather pleased, because I ranked no. 34th on the Gold Derby site out of 714 people for guessing all the nominations. SAG nominations also come out tomorrow and Golden Globe nominations come out the day after tomorrow if anyone is interested. I’m really excited for movie awards season, which probably means I have way too much time on my hands and really should be focusing on work.

  • Thanks for including some BBC America info in there. Any idea when David Tennant’s ‘Spies of Warsaw’ will be showing up on that channel? All the BBCA website says is either Winter 2013 or Early 2013.

Comment by AT – December 11, 2012 04:58 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • I second that AT! Looking forward to Ripper Street. Regarding “Spies of Warsaw”, I read on “DT Forum” (unofficial David Tennant news blog) that it’s going to be air on Wednesday, Feb 6th. Since it’s the unoffical blog, take it for what it’s worth.

  • This is excellent…but I have to agree with the other people…I’m going to need another calendar with series returning from hiatus. I really need it because we now have multi-room dvr, and didn’t before some of the series went on hiatus…which means I need to set up series recordings! This helps tremendously with White Collor, Pretty Little Liars etc…but I could use more info too! Thanks for all you do!!! :D Oh and Touch? do we know anything about when that returns yet?

Comment by Leondre – December 11, 2012 07:33 PM PDT  Reply To This Post
    • It’ll probably be delayed a few minutes but probably not by much. That’s what usually happens to shows that air at 10PM if the SOU runs over.
