Ratings: Two and a Half Men Repeat Improves on Partners, Mob Doctor Ticks Up, Voice Hits a Low

Get More: News, Ratings

CBS’ decision to pull Partners and swap in sitcom repeats on Monday at 8:30 promptly paid dividends: A warmed-over Two and a Half Men last night drew 6.4 million total viewers while scoring a 2.1 demo rating, improving on Partners‘ final performance by 17 percent.

That in turn teed up 2 Broke Girls (9.74 mil/3.4) for a gain of 6 percent, while Mike & Molly held steady-ish at 9.24 mil/2.9.

Opening CBS’ night, How I Met Your Mother was flat with 7.9 mil/3.0, while Hawaii Five-0 closed things with 8.8 mil/2.2, up 11 and 5 percent week-to-week.

Elsewhere on Monday….

* Dancing With the Stars (14.1 mil/2.3) drew the night’s largest audience, while rising 10 percent in the demo. Castle (10.5 mil/2.0, up 5 percent) led the 10 o’clock hour in total audience but placed third in the demo.

* Fox’s Bones (7.1 mil/2.0) and The Mob Doctor (3.1 mil/0.9) both ticked up a tenth in the demo.

* The CW’s 90210 (with 783,000 viewers and a 0.4 rating) dropped two tenths in the demo; Gossip Girl (703K/0.3) slipped just one tenth.

* NBC’s The Voice (10.5 mil/3.7) fell 16 percent in the demo (to a season low for a Monday telecast) but nonetheless led the night in that measure. Revolution, after a couple weeks of declines, stabilized at 7 mil/2.6.

  • Boring ep of Bones last night and it obvious that David Boreanaz is being punished with no storylines for his comments of last summer. Cam and another intern, just eww.

    • Yep. Don’t you know that the supporting actors on Bones are now more important than David or Emily? Espeically David, who has had NOTHING to do all season but to service Brennan and Sweets subplots. What a waste. SMH

      • Cam has been my favorite character for about two seasons now. She’s the only one who manages to be funny and still down to earth! <3

    • It is sad how Booth has been reduced to a supporting actor in Season 8. . .Leads get plots, storylines, something to do. They don’t just stand around and float through ep after ep without any impact… Obvious Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan don’t give a frack about Booth/DB character/actor development or his fans….Cam and Astroo are a Human Resources nightmare…both mother and step daughter dating interns, may be they can double date and braid each others hair! Ugh. Ugh. Ugh

    • I would love to know from Hart why David’s screentime has got reduced this season…with this ep there must of been about 15 min in the middle of the ep where he didn’t have one scene…. People on twitter where going WhereTF is Booth?….It also doesn’t help that Sweets/JFD has taken over many of Booth’s scenes at the FBI. David has been doing them for years and all of sudden he’s chopped liver, not needed…Sweets/JFD should be doing them *with* Booth. Instead he’s taking over and marginalizing Booth/David’s role…fans want to see Booth/DB you know do HIS JOB not Sweets/JFD do it for him….wonder if tvline could ask Hart about this sometime…

  • I love HIMYM, but I think it’s the reason Partners wasn’t doing up to CBS standards. If I remember correctly, HIMYM has always been one of the weaker Monday night comedies. Big Bang & 2 1/2 Men were the biggest draws on Monday nights and now they are trying to use reruns of them to bolster ratings. Even with Partners getting 6-7 million viewers they were beating the ‘breakout’ comedies, Go On, New Girl & The Mindy Project–all three of which I love.

  • Any predictions as to why FOX is keeping ‘The Mob Doctor’ going? It’s getting CW numbers… the bad CW numbers. Nothing in the can until ‘The Following’?

    • That’s about the sum of it. Someone didn’t do enough shopping during pilot season.

  • CBS numbers are inflated because of Football so expect them to drop.
CBS has killed their great Monday nights with Hawaii 50 and the awful sitcoms.

  • I think that might be another reason why CBS made the move w/Partners – it may have begun to hurt [as lead-in] the ratings on 2 Broke. CBS is betting the farm on 2 Broke for their Monday night lineup; and hence, they need to protect 2 Broke and keep it building/growing. If that means moving 2.5 men around on the schedule for now, that’s what must happen. But CBS needs 2 Broke to be the ‘tent-pole’ show for Monday nights.

Mike Molly? Not so sure, although moving it to 8:30pm/Monday (as someone recently mentioned on the TVLine blog) may be a good idea. Depending, I guess, on how much mojo CBS believes Rules of Engage still has left.

I don’t know much about ‘Friend Me’, but I’m betting that if CBS places it at 8:30pm, they have confidence in it. If they place it at 9:30pm (w/MMolly moved to 8:30), that may tell us what CBS thinks of the show. Bottom line – 2 Broke Girls – that’s the future of CBS on Monday nights – ‘protect your quarterback!’
