What to Watch Thursday: 30 Rock's End Begins, Lucy Lawless Parks Herself, Glee Woes and More

On TV this Thursday: 30 Rock‘s premiere makes lemonade out of Liz Lemon’s final season; Parks and Recreation attracts a warrior princess; The Next singing competition winner is chosen; and it’s not you, it’s Glee. As a supplement to TVLine’s original features (linked within), here are 10 programs to watch for tonight.

8 pm Last Resort (ABC) | As Kendal is forced into a battle on the ground, more than 20 warships close in on the Colorado. You know what this means… Dichen Lachman’s tiki bar is gonna be packed. (Get some burning questions answered!)

8 pm The Next (The CW) | Season finale: Joe, Gloria, John and Nelly crown a winner from among the five remaining finalists during the live, two-hour event. (No word yet on whether there will be a Next season.)

8 pm 30 Rock (NBC) | Season 7 premiere: In the sitcom’s final season opener, Jack devises a truly terrible fall programming line-up (MILF Island 2?), Liz reluctantly agrees to be Jenna’s maid of honor and Kenneth and Hazel invite Tracy to a dinner party.

9 pm Grey’s Anatomy (ABC) | Did you feel like the season premiere skipped more than a few beats, with regards to the immediate aftermath of the plane crash? Fasten your seat belt and return your tray to the upright position as those blanks get filled in. (Watch clips featuring an alive Mark and an anxious ‘Zona.)

9 pm Project Runway (Lifetime) | In the final challenge before Heidi announces who’s going to Fashion Week, the contestants are whisked off to a “magnificent location” that inspires them to “create avant-garde looks.” Center Stage‘s Zoe Saldana guest-judges. (Yes, I know she’s better known for movies like Avatar or Star Trek. But to me, she will always be Eva from the block.)

9 pm The Office (NBC) | Andy’s related to Michelle Obama? Okaaaay. Meanwhile, Dwight teaches Dothraki to Erin. Memo to Dunder Mifflin staff: No one is to call Erin khaleesi. Pam, maybe. Erin? Never.

PREVIEWPerson of Interest Looks Ahead: Finch in ‘Free Fall,’ Ruthless Root and an ‘Eager’ New Team Member

9:30 Parks and Recreation (NBC) | Chris’ idea to solve the city’s problems leads to Ron filling a pothole for a local mom (Spartacus’ Lucy Lawless – get scoop on what’s in store for her in Pawnee). Meanwhile, Ben and April take a road trip to visit Leslie and Andy.

10 pm Scandal (ABC) | There’s just one piece of advice we’ve got for Olivia and her team as they deal with a public figure literally caught in a compromising position: Lift with the legs, not the back. (Watch a pair of video sneak peeks.)

10 pm Elementary (CBS) | Watson has dinner with her ex-boyfriend, and Sherlock consults on the case of a man murdered while entering his apartment. P.S. Did you see which House alum is heading Holmes?

10 pm Jersey Shore (MTV) | Final season premiere. Or, think of it this way — our long national nightmare is almost over.

  • I guess I’m wondering why you didn’t even mention “Person of Interest” in the time slot. All the reviews I’ve read rave about the show yet it’s not even mentioned?

  • Put all the jokes aside about Jersey Shore. You know everyone has a corny one that thinks it is funny or original about the cast. It might have been a nightmare of jealousy for America because their bank accounts are Living Dreams. To live 2 weeks, every 6 months with a bunch of friends, and getting paid enormously with money and tail; Any person with intellect and a career plan might have scoffed at the opportunity at that age. These people were not the “future anythings” of America. So who else and why not.
