This post contains a major spoiler for this week’s Midnight, Texas. Proceed with caution.
One of the original Midnighters falls prey to an unknown evil in this week’s Midnight, Texas, and we’re not talking about the kind of thing you can reverse with a spell or a bunch of sage.
Creek dies, murdered by someone whose name she can’t quite convey to a horrified Manfred before her spirit is consumed in flames and wiped away forever.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. At the start of the episode, Creek returns to town after getting a voicemail from ex-boyfriend Manfred, saying he needs her. Only thing is: Though it’s definitely his voice on her phone, Manfred never actually left the message. And Creek just happens to walk in on her ex and Patience making out in his living room, which causes much awkwardness all around.
Turns out, there’s a trickster — aka a demigod who loves to mess with people, just because — active in the community, and he likes nothing more than to watch the Midnighters implode. More on that in a moment.
Meanwhile, Manfred is sure that Kai is stockpiling all the powers he takes from supernatural beings, but to what end? In order to find out, he and most of the rest of the gang investigate the spa. Creek is tasked with keeping Patience distracted during the operation, but that doesn’t work out so well, and Kai’s worried wife leaves Creek in a treatment room while she attends to something else. When everyone rendezvouses at the end of the night, Creek is missing, and Olivia theorizes that the former waitress just jumped in her car and left like she did at the beginning of the season.
So Manfred, who earlier had shared a kiss with Creek that indicated things certainly weren’t over between the two of them, calls Creek and leaves a voicemail asking her to let him know when she’s home safe. Also? “I love you,” he adds. Just then, he hears Creek’s voice calling him outside, and he relaxes, realizing that she didn’t leave after all.
But when the psychic opens his front door, he sees the ghost of a dead Creek, who apologizes and tells him that she loves him, too. “Who did this to you!” he cries. She starts to tell him, but flames break out around her throat and spread quickly, engulfing her otherworldly form in seconds. When they dissipate, she’s gone… apparently for good. (Sniff.)
Elsewhere in the hour:
* Looks like Fiji can’t keep her promise to Bobo that the black magic wouldn’t change her: After officially pledging herself to the dark arts, she’s got a white streak in her hair and an extreme inability to care about anything except herself.
* After learning that Walker hunts demons because one killed his mother long ago, Joe and the cowboy have sex in Walker’s van. Joe immediately is overcome with guilt. Later, when Joe stops Walker from going after Chu, Walker learns that Chuy is Joe’s husband, and Chuy uses his context clues to figure out that Joe and Walker have been doing more than hunting. He can’t contain his demon side, and he nearly kills Walker (and half the town) before running off into the night.
* Lem is a vampire again. Olivia is on board with it.
What did you think of the episode? Were you surprised by Creek’s passing? Sound off in the comments!
I was not a fan of the show bringing Creek back just to fridge her by the end of the hour for Manfred’s angst. I know this show probably isn’t getting renewed, and I know that there are only two episodes left, but surely they could have been a bit more original.
How would you know this show is getting cancelled? It airs on Friday nights, so the bar has been lowered for Fridays! And don’t forget time-shifted views, too!
Because live viewing is still king, NBC waited forever to return it for this season, and NBC can probably fine something more profitable to air in its place. Same with Blindspot. I watch both shows. I fully expect them both to be cancelled this year.
no they didn’t it came back at the right time for the 2nd season
They didn’t wait forever. It was a summer series, that they chose to bring back in the Fall. They had higher aspirations. They’ll probably just move it back to summers.
With you on this one. Creek and Manfred was my fav couple
There are 4 eps left. 10 ep season.
Loved Creek and hoped they would bring her back. Can’t stand Patience voice or pasty white skin….blechh. Probably won’t watch anymore
Well first of all, Creek probably wouldnt have done much except for whine and harp on Manfred. Patience is evil btw and if things go well she’ll die, if you would have kept watching you would know that.
The show is a guilty pleasure (its still not on the ultra slick fun side like True Blood) but it has gotten better every episode and all of the characters are well defined and likable. I’m not sure where this mystery is leading but I’m guessing Patience isn’t as well-intentioned as Figi’s test indicated. I love all the hot bodies running around, and I’m in love with the cowboy Walker. Please let him be a regular if there is a next season.
I just love this show. I’m beside myself,bc I missed this latest show.No cable, satilite, just antenna. Crime shame there is not a app for Android to help catch upon the show.
You can watch all the episodes on the Showbow app (for Android)
You can’t get the NBC App? It’s not as generous as the CW App in giving you their programs the next day, but they do give you a limited amount of next day shows without having to sign-in with a Cable Provider. You can also view some of their shows on a time delay. It’s worth a try.
Get hulu. We watch it on fire stick.
I love the show! Sorry Creek got killed off. It’s dark but fun. Keeps ones attention if they can use their imagination. Manfred cant trust Patience at all. No one can. Things are going to get more interesting with Figis dark magic.
There was a lot going on in that episode! I liked Creek & was surprised at her death but feel that this will do a lot for advancing the story.
Are we sure Creek’s dead? Kai could have her locked in the basement and that was just a trick he played on Manfred. And Manfred didn’t hear her call him from outside, he heard a knock at the door and when he opened it he saw her. I thought it kinda strange that a ghost knocked on the door. I know his house is protected from ghosts entering but that seemed rather odd.
Watch it again, she called his name.
Yes!! I was even more surprised by Figi’s lasciviousness. Why do I feel she may have a hand or two in this?
Looks like there is more than one puppet master in be Midnight….
I miss these recaps for Dynasty!!!!
While I didn’t want Creek dead, I admit that I didn’t expect that reveal and it was a gut punch. Also, the actress wanted off the show so this was a good way to do it — let her get in on the action and remind everyone that this is deadly stuff they are dealing with and advance the story. Plus everyone will remember this so it’s a good way for an actor to leave the show. The stuff with Joe and Chuy and Walker was good, but hard to watch. It still seems out-of-character for Joe to cheat on Chuy and I hope we get some insight on exactly why he did it — was the mindlink with Walker powerful and his need make him want to comfort Walker? Did the Trickster push him toward cheating for chaos? Fiji’s storyline ramped up so fast — and I love how the Trickster informed us that as of “an hour ago you don’t give a damn about these people.” I’m figuring that butterfly was her good magic that she cut out of her. I’m glad Lem is a vampire again, and a huge shout-out for reminding people that you can foster and adopt if you can’t have kids!! Like Olivia said, there are lots of kids out there that need a loving home. I can’t wait to see when Joe catches up to Chuy and I hope one of the most innovative couples on television can stay strong and move pas this, just like Joe promised.
i wonder if the trickster and walker are one and the same
I like your thought about the blue butterfly being her good magic.
It JUST hit me that it was pretty much the same as “monster energy”/supernatural powers whenever they’ve been removed from midnighters so far, iridescent blue.
I hate watching Fiji lose her humanity. But I did enjoy the scene of her bemused chatting with the trickster.
It hurt to watch joe cheat. But it did seem like the trickster…I mean he was coming at walker pretty angry when he first jumped in the van. Almost out of character pushy-angry, right?
The gut punch of creeks ghost made me shed a legitimate tear. Immediately I thought Kai since he found her in the office,
But who drove her car away?
Bobo said he SAW her drive away in her car. So who was driving? Kai was busy at the hotel yelling at Manfred to “stay away from his wife” …
Any thoughts?
I don’t know why, but I think Fiji killed Creek. Like that annoying demigod said, she didn’t care about her friends after an hour of meeting him. And the butterfly comment sounds like it makes sense. Also her evilness sure escalated quickly. Poor Bobo.
Kinda glad Lem is vamp Lem again, he was a little boring as a human. And not all that upset Creek is gone.
I can’t believe Creek comes home just to die! And what’s up with Fiji!?! I love “Midnight Texas”
I didn’t like that Cree was killed off, but I believe she will be brought from the dead
Love the episode last night. So Creek comes back to Midnight just to die? That was a waste but @ the sametime I didn’t really care much. With a show like this having one normal human w. no supernatural powers or skill like Olivia is kinda boring. For example Lem thank goodness he’s a Vampire agian cuz yo he was a BORING as a human! Plus I miss seeing those glowing blue eyes😆. Overall there’s 2 people I think killed Creek…..Kai or Fiji…..cuz girl got caught by Kai and was angry AF. Fiji being all dark now n not giving a Sh*t about her friends is a sign that she’s become dangerous. But if if I had pick I say its Fiji.😦
I think its Fiji too. I really didn’t care for Creek’s character anyway so I’m kind oud happy she’s gone. 😄
I think its Fiji too. I really didn’t care for Creek’s character anyway so I’m kind of happy she’s gone. 😄
But why would Fiji do that? Yeah she’s dark but in a self serving way it seems. So what would she gain from murdering creek? The way she was acting this episode more like “I’m bored with you silly people” as if she wouldn’t bother to waste the time to kill someone unless it served her in some way.
I just see no apparent reason for her to have done so.
And Kai was busy at the hotel yelling at manfred at the time bobo saw creeks car driving away.
Whoever did it was behind the wheel. Or Kai managed to get someone to drive it away in a very quick amount of time while dealing with everything
I absolutely loved this episode. Never liked Creek. So glad Lem is a vampire again. What has me miserable is that I probably won’t be able to see next week’s episode because I have to spend the weekend with family. It’s terrible that I’m actually debating whether or not to feign illness so I can stay home to see the show. This is horrible of me, I know. At least I’ll be able to read what happened if I can’t be home to watch. Meanwhile who the heck is this Manfred guy? I think he’s the best looking man on the planet!
It looks like the NBC app gives us the opportunity to watch any three episodes of any shows if we sign in with our email account. Hopefully this works so I can see next Friday’s episode!
You probably won’t see this comment because I’m leaving it so many days after the episode aired, but Francois Arnaud (Manfred) turned in an incredible performance a few years back in The Borgias on Showtime. ☺
whats the point of a spoiler warning with a HUGE pic of dead Creek at the top
1.) What is a FRITO PIE PIZZA???? It sounds amazing but what is it?
2.) So glad Lem got his Vampire back on!
3.) I didn’t miss Creek but sure didn’t want her dead. I think I never really enjoyed her that much because I didn’t like her character on Parenthood (I tried to get past it and never could)
4.) I hope Chuy snaps out of this. He is such a doll.
5.) I think they want us to think Kai is the bad one here but maybe it is Patience
6.) Fiji is just stressing me out. No way Bobo should be treated like this. His heart is gonna break in a million pieces.
The Angel & the Cowboy lip-locking in the truck, quality programming at it’s best…
until chuy learned the truth about it and turned demon because his angel husband joe broke his heart. even if chuy snaps out of it, he may never forgive joe for the affair and leave midnight alone in the season finale and no one will be able to stop him!
Love the show!
It made me sad to see they killed Creek. Why not let her just leave ! She didnt have to die.
I love this show, but the way the women keep getting fridged, while the men leave town but are still alive, is starting to turn me off from it. I don’t care if the death moves the plot forward. A man’s death could move the plot forward, too. So could finding a less cliched dramatic device.
I totally agree.
At first I figured they left Rev alive because he’d be coming back with the baby weretiger episode…buuuut nope.
Mid-night Texas is one of my favorite shows, however I hated Creek passing, so sad for Manford😢 also hated Fiji turning dark, poor Bobo😢. At least Olivia and Lim are doing well. No words for Joe cheating on his hubby😡 I so enjoy this show!!
I watched last nights episode of Midnight Texas and almost cried they killed Manfred. Why? He was one of the main characters. Please bring him back some how. And Joe is a dark angel now on top of that and I saw Olivia being burnt at the end. Why why why. BTW if U haven’t guessed I’m a big fan of the show
