When Calls the Heart Renewed for Season 7, Following Lori Loughlin Firing
Good news, Hearties: Hallmark Channel has renewed When Calls the Heart for Season 7, weeks ahead of Season 6’s return. The big announcement was made by series star Erin Krakow during the premiere of the cabler’s latest original TV-movie Bottled With Love.
“I am thrilled to announce When Calls the Heart Season 7, coming next year,” she said. “We can’t wait to get back to Hope Valley.” (TVLine’s Cable Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect the news.)
As previously reported, the popular period drama will resume airing new Season 6 episodes on Sunday, May 5 — the first since the show’s sudden hiatus in the wake of the college admissions scandal involving former cast member Lori Loughlin. A new installment will also air on Monday, May 6, after which the show will resume airing in its regular time slot on Sundays at 8 pm.
Loughlin, who was indicted last month in connection with a bribery scheme in which rich parents paid big bucks to get their kids into elite schools, was fired by Hallmark soon after the scandal hit, and the show took a break to explore its “creative options.” Since then, it has been reported that the upcoming episodes have been edited so as to remove Loughlin’s Abigail Stanton from any scenes.

There’s still no word yet, though, on whether Loughlin’s character will ultimately be recast or written out of the series entirely. When we recently polled fans of the show, 60 percent of you wanted to see the role recast, with just 27 percent preferring that the role be written out.
Hallmark has since unveiled a new poster for Season 6 (see below), which of course excludes Loughlin.

No no one is above the law your absolutely right. But it’s not like she committed murder or physically hurt anyone. We are only human and mistakes are made. Maybe suspend her for a few episodes or give her a huge fine, but everyone knows it was Abigail, Jack and Elizabeth that made the show. Jack and Abigail need to be brought back.
Give HUGE fine, so they never forget their transgression, then forgive. Everyone needs forgiveness.

I’m a liberal and in my opinion she as well as Roseanne both deserve a second chance. Roseanne is making it harder on herself for that to happen. She first blamed drugs then she said ABC was targeting her. The latest is that Sara Gilbert wanted to ruin her career. Shes pointing fingers at everyone else and that’s the difference between the two.
She doesn’t believe she did anything wrong. She needs to admitt her wrong doing and apoligise before asking for forgiveness
What happen to innocent until proven guilty. We don’t know all the facts. Only what the news is telling us.
I agree with you totally. If found not guilty and I don’t mean appealed/ lawyered away but truly exonerated, then I think she should be able to return. Until then I think we should not be so quick to accept the news trying to get a good story and deeming her guilty before a trial. She has not been proven wrong yet except by a greedy press.
I feel that in keeping with the old time values of forgiveness and understanding, more support should have been given to Lori Loughlin. She has portrayed a strong, giving character in all her roles. Who of us has not needed forgiveness?
I agree. Maybe a fine or pay for someone who can’t afford to go to college or donate to a worthwhile cause or charity. Along with community service. I mean ALL the parents.

Why should someone be forgiven if they don’t even acknowledge what they did was wrong? I’m all for forgiveness, but that’s something that you earn, not something that just handed out because you’re famous and played popular characters on TV.

I agree. The proponents of many Hallmark shows is that of redemption and forgiveness….Even Gowen was given a second chance. I think one of the problems here is that it was such a large amount of money that Lori is blamed for using to help her children, most of us really can’t identify. But, what parent hasn’t done something, or wouldn’t do something – if they thought it would help their child. This just seems so disproportionate in the alleged crime vs. punishment – and all before the truth comes to light. I say, let’s offer some forgiveness here. A fine, if proven guilty – and let her be. There are MANY worse things happening in the world right now.

Let her come back. So she made a mistake. What parent wouldn’t do something for their child to go to a good school. I dont know one person if they had the money wouldn’t have done that. Plus whoever took the bribe is just as guilty. I’m not saying she shouldn’t be punished. But keep in mind she’s a mom first. And moms do anything for their children!

When Calls the Heart projects moral character, and up holds law and order. Justice demands that penalties be meted out against violators of the law. Hallmark made the right move. Tough to project values with a cast member who as of yet hasn’t so much as accepted the error of their way or defended their innocence. Stan Laurel said to his friend Oliver Hardy in the Sons of the Desert episode, “Honesty is the best politics!”
These are actors playing a part. By definition the characters aren’t the same as the people playing them. Once more, we see Hallmark and other Hollywood players virtue signaling when it’s easy, but that’s it. Do you really think all the actors on this show live by the same standards and virtues their characters do?

Hmmm… I want the world for my kids too but draw the line at bribery. Instead I focus on being a good role by studying my butt off for grad school while holding down a time demanding job and managing a household of two, active kids while my husband travels for work. I do not pave the way to make things easy for them to get into school that they clearly didn’t want to be at the first place or probably over their heads academically given that, despite going to fancy prep school, they couldn’t qualify to get in on their own merits.

BS. Plenty of people with money aren’t committing felonies to steal things for their kid that they don’t deserve. That’s horrible parenting – teaching your kid that they don’t have to work for what they get or be qualified in any way like other people, but rather should throw money to get things they don’t deserve or even want (her daughter has been very outspoken about not caring about school at all) and commit crimes to snatch opportunities from other people. Any half-decent parent would never pull this crap.

I would and have. Roseanne got a raw deal on the show just like Loughlin.
If it was *just* a bribe I would agree with you but a felony was committed. Her and her husband wrote that 500K payoff as a charitable contribution which goes to money laundering. That was a conscious act to circumvent the law and goes way beyond of just wanting the the best for her children. They school officials who accepted the bribe were indicted also and some have entered a guilty plea.

Rich and sports have been bribing their way for centuries. Someone use to fill in for players not doing well in school.Some never went to classes,never took tests just so they could keep on playing.The coaches didn’t want to have their star player on the side lines for having bad grades.
That is exactly right. While it breaks my heart that she has done this, I have always liked her acting, however that is exactly what it is….. Acting. While I would do just about anything for my children, the line is drawn at committing felonies for them. NO ONE is above the law. Some people say forgive? That’s great, we should forgive but there are consequences to your actions. When our children break rules we punish them. Then we forgive them. Same applies here. We break the law, face the consequences then there can be forgiveness. Everyone mentions Roseanne, how about Martha Stewart? She went to prison and now is back on television and quite successful. Although… In a way I do kind of feel badly for her due to the fact that one of her daughters seems to have turned on her since this has all started. She had to have known herself that her grades weren’t good enough to get into that school. Can anyone say “spoiled rotten”. I wish them all the best and hope for the best outcome possible. But if found guilty, consequences should be faced.

Being a parent does not exempt you from legal or ethical requirements in a civil society. Parenthood is not a get out of jail free card.

Donna A parent who will cheat and break the law for their kids to go to a particular school are lousy parent who are teaching their children that lying and dishonesty pays. They are also parents who are telling their kids they think the kid is a failure who cannot succeed unless mommy buys that success for them. All around her actions are those of a bad parent and an unethical person. A GOOD mom would have spent the money on tutors and then accepted whatever school their kid could get into on their own effort.

So, so glad the show continues. Lori was a great Abigail, and I’ll miss her, but I’m sure there’s another actress that is loved as she was that can play the part. Abigail was and is a great and necessary character that should not be killed. She’s what makes Hope Ville a good place to live in.

I am SO glad to see someone else post this. I agree. Anyone who’s a mom or dad gets it. We do anything for oyr kids. Maybe this went to far but this is to much in my opinion. I bet if they keep digging around they are gonna find a lot more parents doing a lot of things foe their kids.

Donna, I love my children with all my heart, but it shames me to hear you say that. I would do anything for them, but not something that is immoral or illegal. We all have to work hard to get somewhere in life, and teaching my children to ‘buy’ their way in, does nothing for me and it definitely doesn’t benefit them. We are so happy that you will renew When Calls The Heart for a seventh season. We love all the characters and their storylines. Hope you can recast Abigail’s character, and give her a love interest.
I would rather have watched with Lori IN it for rest of season, then have her written out for new season. I do NOT want her role as Abigail to be re-cast. Send her away, or kill character off. Have someone else run the cafe & make someone else mayor. Will probably not watch Garage Sale without Lori either.

Why would you care? Honestly, what does it matter to you what the actor who portrays a part, who pretends for a living, does in her spare time? I am glad that WCTH is coming back for Season 7. I do hope that they will recast Abigail’s role. After losing Jack last year, I just feel like Hope Valley needs Abigail.

Honestly I’m not sure I will continue to watch WCTH. Although I’m sad how her bad behavior has affected her coworkers and the crew. I really liked Garage Mysterys better. I”m also sad that they moved the Peete’s to Monday night. HMC use to be my all weekend channel but there are just too many repeats of the same show over and over again. Even the repeats of Columbo are the same ones constantly, as many seasons as the show was on why keeping playing the same ones.
Will this new series be available for the public to buy on DVD, if so, how soon. We have all the other series, love that group of actors and actresses.

You made a wise decision in firing Lori Loughlin. We must never reward or allow our children to feel cheating the system is acceptable. Poor and criminal choices have repercussions and both Lori and her husband will pay the price.

Very happy about WCTH coming back and season 7 announcement. I have been a fan of the show from the beginning. It is my favorite show presently on TV. I love the cast and the storyline. Wholesome TV for the whole family to watch.
While the news of what happened with Lori is very upsetting. I am so sad for her and her family. I still believe they are good people who made a big mistake.

I have no clue what the show is that lori was on but I do believe we all make mistakes and God will take care of things. I don’t agree with what she did but I think that any of us in her position would have probably done the same thing. I hate to see her career lost because of this. We’ve all messed up need to take that into account. Because she’s famous she got caught. IF it would have been you or me IT never would have made it Into the news.

I’m sure that Lori signed a contract that was thoroughly reviewed by her own lawyer. I’m also sure that there was a termination clause included that called for termination in the event of inappropriate and/or criminal behavior or appearance of such on Lori’s part. She did not “make a mistake.” She broke the law and there are consequences for that. Stating that others have done the same and did not get caught is not the point. As my grandmother and mother used to say and I have said to my own children…”Two wrongs don’t make a right.”
If she admits her “wrong” and shows remorse (ala Felicity) then she should definitely be forgiven, but she should also accept the punishment that comes with committing the crime if she admits guilt or is found guilty if she goes to trial. No one is above the law.
