God Friended Me Renewed for Season 2

CBS has renewed God Friended Me for Season 2, the network announced Tuesday. The freshman dramedy starring Brandon Micheal Hall stands as CBS’ second most-watched new series (behind FBI).
TVLine’s 2019 Renewal Scorecard has been updated to reflect the show’s pickup.
“We’re thrilled with how God Friended Me has performed on Sundays,” Eye Entertainment President Kelly Kahl said in a statement. “It’s one of the top three new series on television, has improved its time period significantly, and continues a long tradition of prestige dramas for CBS on the night.”
Added Thom Sherman, Senior EVP of Programming at CBS: “Our amazing cast and producers have done a wonderful job of bringing this series to life each week with humorous and inspirational storylines. Viewers have clearly embraced our characters and the positive message the show delivers.”
God Friended Me‘s pickup brings to four the number of CBS rookies scoring early renewals; last week the network greenlit second seasons of Magnum P.I., FBI and The Neighborhood.

Good call, CBS! Time to move away from formulaic procedurals (despite how well you do them) and give us a solid family drama and some more comedies.

I have to admit, I was a little hesitant to watch this show at first, but my mom wanted to see it and I am glad that she did. We have certain shows that we watch everynight and this is one of them. So glad this show was renewed, and that my mom turned me on to watching it!
I would have never watched this show, but was too lazy to get up one night after having foot surgery to find the remote, so I ended up watching and was pleasantly surprised. It’s an entertaining show so far. Glad to see it was renewed :)
That’s a nice surprise! I can’t help but to wonder if Kevin Probably Saves the World would have fared better on CBS than ABC. Similar themes, but perhaps KPSTW was a little TOO quirky for some. I liked it MUCH better than GFM though, BECAUSE of it’s quirks.
I liked Kevin Saves the World, too. Was sorry to see it cancelled.

I really enjoyed KPSTW so, when it got cancelled, I was hesitant to watch another show with a similar premise. I still haven’t watched GFM but, with it’s renewal I’ll definitely binge watch the first season sometime before the S2 premiere.

OK, I’m almost convinced to go into the past eps and add this one to my personal watch list. I’m always hesitant to start a new show because so often something I grow to love is cancelled. But this is some serious positive reinforcement. Regardless, congrats to the show and all involved!

I am so pleased that ‘God Friended Me’ has been renewed. It’s a wonderful show in several ways; too many to list.
Thank you CBS. I just love this ove this show. It is such a refreshing break from all the crime and terrror dramas, etc. Don’t get me wrong, I love all the NCiS shows, Magnum, Hawaii Five 0, Blue Bloods but God Friended me gives me a good feeling.

Yay! Before it aired, all I could think was, “Oh, no, another ‘religious’ show that will bomb because it’s TOO religious.” Glad it turned out to be very different. This show should be the template for good, religious-themed shows.
