Almost one year to the day that F. Murray Abraham‘s sudden and mysterious Mythic Quest exit was announced, a new report claims the 83-year-old Oscar winner was fired from the Apple TV+ series due to sexual misconduct.
According to TVLine’s sister pub Rolling Stone, the White Lotus actor was at the center of two alleged incidents at Mythic Quest, the first of which resulted in a warning (to steer clear of one of the series’ female cast members) and the second of which led to his dismissal.
In announcing his exit last April, producer Lionsgate issued this cryptic statement: “F. Murray Abraham will not be returning to Season 3 of Mythic Quest. Beyond that, we do not comment on matters concerning personnel.”
In response to the Rolling Stone piece, Lionsgate said, “We take allegations of misconduct seriously and investigate them thoroughly. As a matter of corporate policy, we do not discuss our personnel actions.”
Created by Rob McElhenney and his It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia cohorts Charlie Day and Megan Ganz, Mythic Quest — which is now heading into its fourth season — “follows the team behind the biggest multiplayer video game of all time.” In addition to McElhenney and Abraham, the ensemble cast includes Community‘s Danny Pudi, Imani Hakim, Charlotte Nicdao, Ashly Burch, Jessie Ennis and fellow EP David Hornsby.
So his role in White Lotus wasn’t much of a stretch, eh?
At 83 years old you would think he would know better.
Or you’d imagine that since he entered hollywood in a MUCH different time he is a relic of a past that treated what he did with laughs and ‘boys being boys’ and since he never faced any consequences for what he was doing he never saw anything wrong with it.
I bet he said something very Chevy Chase like, or he did something very Bill Murray like.
Expected. Whenever a man unexpectedly leaves a show, it’s 99% misconduct.
It’s amazing how many men just never learned what is ok and what isn’t.
Good on the show for not having it.
I figured this was the case as they were very vague about him leaving, but the timing and optics benefited him very well at the time since it seemed like he just wanted out of Mythic Quest to go do White Lotus. I’m assuming this happened before White Lotus started filming so i’m curious if they were aware. Either way, I doubt he would return for WL Season 3.
The weird thing about this report is his sendoff was very moving and sweet. In other instances, it was almost a throwaway line or something bad happened to the person in their respective shows. Sucks if true
The sendoff was more for his character, but it’s hard to separate the two.
Dirty old men are so pathetic.
