Further proof that Drea de Matteo has cornered the market on women-in-peril roles: The ex-Sopranos and Desperate Housewives fall girl has been cast as a battered wife in an upcoming episode of Law & Order: SVU, sources confirm to me exclusively.

Adding another tragic twist to the tale, de Matteo’s character, Sondra, also happens to be pregnant. And when Mr. Uncontrollable Fists isn’t beating the crap out of his other half, he’s smacking around her son from another marriage. This dude is so going to get Bensoned and Stablerized it’s not even funny.

The episode airs in early ‘11.
