Charmed Photos: Reboot Cast Vs. Original Stars

THE EX-BOYFRIEND

Brian (played by Charlie Gillespie, right) dated youngest-sister Maggie in high school and still carries a torch for her. But don't let his "sexy, sensitive loner" persona fool you — he could be real trouble. If I had to compare Brian to anyone from the original series, it would probably be Glen (played by Jesse Woodrow, left), Paige's childhood friend with benefits.

THE CURRENT BOYFRIEND

Prue never got to have a long-term boyfriend — unless you count whatever she had with Andy — before she was taken from us, so it's hard to compare Macy's boyfriend Galvin (played by Ser'Darius Blain) to anyone from the original series. An aspiring documentary filmmaker, Galvin would do anything for Macy, though there's no telling how that might change when those powers start to develop.

THE OLDEST SISTER

Following in the footsteps of the original series' Prue (played by Shannen Doherty, left), the reboot's Macy (played by Madeleine Mantock) also gains the power of telekensis. But while Prue had an eye for the arts, Macy is more scientifically inclined — which only makes her newfound magical lineage all the more mindblowing.

THE YOUNGEST SISTER

Maggie (played by Sarah Jeffery, right) is described as fun and outgoing, but that's pretty much where her similarities with Phoebe (played in the original series by Alyssa Milano, left) end. While Phoebe had the power of premonition, Maggie's gift is the ability to read people's thoughts. And whereas Phoebe was the most excited sister to discover her bewitching heritage, Maggie is more interested in sororities than sorcery — at least for now.

THE MIDDLE SISTER

Like Piper (played in the original series by Holly Marie Combs, left), the reboot's Mel (played by Melonie Diaz, right) holds the power to freeze time. But don't count on Mel, an outspoken activist, falling in love with her Whitelighter; she already has a girlfriend... who happens to be on the police force. Gee, I can't imagine that will complicate her life at all.

THE LAW

Given that Niko (played by Ellen Tamaki, right) carries a badge, fans are likely to draw parallels to the original series' Darryl (played by Dorian Gregory, top left). But the fact that she's dating middle-sister Mel really makes her more of an Andy (played by Ted King, bottom left). Time will tell whether her position will make her an asset to the sisters... or a liability.

THE WHITELIGHTER

Because even the most powerful witches still need someone to remind them that their powers come from their emotions, the reboot is giving us Harry (played by Rupert Evans, right), a dashing professor with a vested interest in the sisters' survival. But unlike the original series' Leo (played by Brian Krause, left), this new fella is a little more blunt — and a little less trustworthy.
