TVLine Items: The Originals Star Cast as Robert Durst, Flaked Trailer and More

The Originals’ Daniel Gillies is taking on another killer role during his hiatus: The actor will star in Lifetime’s original movie The Lost Wife of Robert Durst as the titular accused murderer.

Katharine McPhee (Scorpion) will play Durst’s missing spouse Kathie in the film based on investigative journalist Matt Birkbeck’s book A Deadly Secret: The Strange Disappearance of Kathie Durst.

While Robert Durst was the subject of HBO’s true-crime docuseries The Jinx, the Lifetime project promises to put the focus on Kathie, who vanished in 1982.

  1. Winter says:

I love Daniel Gillies not sure I want to think him becoming Ol’ Blinky someday.

  2. George says:

Good for Daniel gillies. I think he’s a phenomenal actor.

  3. Shar says:

Fred Savage back in front of the camera – yes!

  4. Tina says:

I used to love Daniel gillies, but he has said so many condescending things to and about fans and even about his co-stars, that he’s left a sour taste in my mouth and now I can’t really be bothered to watch his stuff. He was so amazing on saving hope and he was great on the vampire diaries but I won’t go out of my way to watch something new. Sometimes I think actors get jobs not only based on talent but their ability to carry a fan base. If the studio doesn’t make money, they are not worth the fee to hire. Fans may seem like they don’t matter, but we are the consumer and shouldn’t be talked down to.

    • Jane says:

I get what you’re saying, I love tvd and to casts, but DG is one of the very few actors I have mixed to negative feelings about. And all that because of his occasionally reckless comments. But perhaps some of it is due to his specific sense of humour and some from him thinking it’s cool to behave the way he does. His co-stars seem to like him, so he’s probably a nice person and this is just his public persona.

  5. Joey Padron says:

The trailer for Flaked’s new season looks really good. The teaser for Netflix’s new show Friends From College looks good.

  6. Gift says:

Great I think but I’m not ready to say goodbye to him on the originals yet.

    • Jane says:

Yes I find the timing is a bit worrying, he might not be resurrected on TO and be a special guest star like CH or NB. This is in case JP decided to go Joseph, Riley, Candice, Phoebe and Matt, as the main cast, plus kids. But I feel like Elijah is too important to have S05 without him. Maybe he can be in two shows like when he was in Saving Hope

  7. Marsha darrington says:

It seems like he doesn’t know how to do interviews to many jokes and he never answer the questions
