Brooklyn Nine-Nine Cops Season 5 Renewal at Fox

In the immortal words of Captain Raymond Holt: “Hot damn!” Fox has renewed Brooklyn Nine-Nine for Season 5, TVLine has learned.

Co-creator Dan Goor was always optimistic about the prospect of another season, telling TVLine as recently as April that the Andy Samberg comedy always “received a tremendous amount of support from the network, and I’m sure our pickup will be coming at any point.”

Goor was also confident that fans would probably “riot” were the show to be cancelled after its Season 4 finale (airing Tuesday, May 23 at 8/7c), which doesn’t sound like it’ll be tying up any loose ends.

“If you’re asking if we wrote a potential series finale, we did not,” he said at the time. “We do not want this to be the series finale.”

    • Kimberly Mlejnek says:

I am checking every hour for that news

      • Marissa L says:

Same. It’s the last one I’m waiting on. Really, really hoping for a final, shortened season. (Personally, I would love it if they did a 1 year time jump so we could see Jess & Nick in a healthy, stable relationship; Schmidt & Cece navigating parenthood; and Winston & Aly’s wedding.)

  4. Kris says:

Love this show. Glad to hear that at least one of the shows I like isn’t cancelled.

  5. Jason says:

When Last Man got picked up, I figured Nine-Nine was a safe bet. Still, it’s good to get it off the worry pile.

  6. marge201 says:

    Totally delighted. Love the show!!

Best TV related news I’ve had all week! Does anyone know who has picked up the rerun rights?

  14. Kay says:

So things are not looking good for New Girl are they?

  15. Tenney says:

YEAH!! I would have been so bummed if the 99 was cancelled. Great news!!!

  16. Jeanne says:

I do not understand why a show like this is renewed and Sleepy Hollow gets cancelled!! We have tried to watch this show and it’s STUPID! Sleepy Hollow was like nothing else out there, and no it’s gone!

    • Kay says:

The two don’t really have anything to do with each other. Sleepy Hollow is a one-hour drama airing on Fridays. B99 is a comedy airing on Tuesdays. It’s not like Sleepy Hollow died because B99 was renewed…. there’s not any relation between them.
Also, I recognize that you may not like B99, and that’s totally okay, but it’s a little unkind to call it stupid knowing that there are people reading it who genuinely enjoy it.

    • Tai says:

Sleepy Hollowcwad amazing when Abbie was still there. But then it just lost track. I loved that show. I followed it almost religiously but even I can admit it went off the rails by the end of second season. And that has nothing to do with Brooklyn Nine-Nine. They’re entirely different genres. This is a comedy. It’s supposed to be silly and fun. Comparing the two is pointless. It’s the fault of no other than Sleepy Hollow executives and Fox that the show got cancelled.

    • Lauren says:

They don’t really compare (also B99 is great) but Sleepy Hallow is probably a much more expensive production.

    • ndixit says:

It’s very simple. B99 is good and Sleepy Hollow is not. Certainly not anymore.

  17. Chris says:

Best news! Funniest show in tv! Hope it’s a full season.

  24. Craig says:

    BingPOT!!!

  25. Litz says:

    😐 I’ve never been happier

  26. Haz says:

Very happy about this news! I won’t lie a part of me hopes next season will be their last because it’s always on the bubble. As much as I love the show I would hate to see it cancelled five seasons in with no closure. Hopefully the execs at Fox will change their approach to scheduling because the long breaks their shows had really hurt their ratings.

  27. Terrance says:

Correct me if I’m wrong but I read somewhere that the likely hood of Last Man, Nine-Nine, and New Girl all being renewed was unlikely. This doesn’t bode well for New Girl.

  28. Joey Padron says:

So happy the show got renewed! Thank you Fox. It’s one of my favorite comedy shows on TV!

  29. TVLineCommentator says:

    #7SeasonsAndAMovie

Whew! I was going to unleash Squash’s Unhinged Lunatic if this show wasn’t renewed! NINE-NINE!!

  32. Kat says:

Finally the renewal of a good show. It’s about time.

  33. Boyle says:

    NOICE!

  34. With bones gone, this is the only fox show i watch, so yayyy

  35. MeLikey says:

This is very good news for us. A truly funny show with people who care about each other but don’t drink each other’s blood like some other shows.

  36. Pablo says:

    YESSSSSSSS

  37. Brent says:

Very excited about this! One of the two best comedies on Network TV along with Superstore.

  38. JMark (formerly JM) says:

    Doing a happy dance!

  39. murley says:

I am still hoping for New Girl but Now that this and iZombie got the renewal I am happy.

  40. Erin B says:

Yay! I am still mad at Fox for “Rosewood” & “Pitch,” but this helps.

  41. KER33 says:

Thank goodness! I didn’t think Fox would have all those double episode nights and introduce a new plot line just to leave Jake and Rosa in their situation after 4 successful seasons. This is one show that, when it does have a series finale, I believe everyone’s going to live “happily ever after,” or some semblance of normalcy, with loose ends tied and maybe even a door left open for a spin-off. That said, now I’m counting the days until we get back to the story!

  42. Katelyn says:

    Yes!! Season 5 !!
