Powerless Series Premiere

Powerless Cancelled at NBC

NBC has lost its lust for Powerless.

The superhero-adjacent comedy — which was from the network’s Thursday night schedule last month — has formally been cancelled.

Powerless, starring Vanessa Hudgens as the research director at a security company that protects average citizens from the superhero battles raging all around them, has struggled in the ratings since its February 2 debut. Last week’s airing pulled a mere 2.1 million total viewers and a 0.6 demo rating — a 30 percent drop in both categories from its Superstore lead-in.

Two episodes of the show’s original 13-episode order still have yet to air — including a guest spot from TV’s original Batman, Adam West. It’s unclear when (or if) those episodes will air. Along with Hudgens, the cast also included sitcom veterans Alan Tudyk (Suburgatory), Danny Pudi (Community), Ron Funches (Undateable) and Christina Kirk (A to Z).

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

    Such high hopes
Please stop making shows where everyone is an idiot.

  2. Catherine says:

Well, no shock it was cancelled, but at least release the last two episodes!

Hopefully they’ll air the last 2 eps in a 1 hour block one day soon so that those few viewers (myself included) will be able to watch it and not have it air without any notice.

  3. Michael says:

Was one of the worst shows this season and one of the most anticipated. Good call

  4. Lyndy says:

This show was a disappointment…had high hopes

A rare tv misfire by folks at DC. While the super hero based movies and tvnshows go deadly serious, this show stepped too far into the standard NBC The Office/Superstore type of comedy.

    Cancellation not a shock.

A “rare misfire by folks at DC?” I’m sorry, but DC has yet to hit the target. I had high hopes for the show when it was first announced, but after the creative changes to the first pilot, it seemed all too clear the show had little chance

In other news, water…wet. But they should put the last two episodes on the NBC app/website.

  7. Grail says:

WB/DC please take note that this is the second time NBC has screwed up one of your properties. Please do not allow them to have anymore superhero shows. Still bitter about what they did to Constantine.

  8. Ray says:

    ‘Twas garbage. Enough said.

    I’m not surprised.

  10. Absoliute bull shirt. Great show.

No point in getting into any show on NBC since E.R. All the ones I like get canceled in a season or less.

  12. Brian says:

This show had such a great cast yet the garbage writing killed any possible chance at success. Time to find another show that will be canceled and keep appearing on ‘@midnight’ Ron Funches!

This show was hit or miss. Some episodes were very funny like the episode where they had the women’s focus group (need to find that episode online), some episodes were just flat and not funny at all. Another problem was they tried to make a joke of being PC but that fell flat as well. I will miss the show a little bit because I did have a crush on Green Fury.

  14. This was a super fun show I enjoyed with my kids. There are not enough family friendly shows on tv. You will be missed Powerless

Enjoyed every episode so far. Smart. Funny. Edgy. Epic opening credits. Hudgens is insanely hot. Ron Fuches is hilarious in it. Too bad it’s going away.

Booooo – this was such a great concept, and the casting was good. Let me know when it’s on DVD and I will definitely be purchasing :(

The only cast member to have success post High School Musical is Zac Efron.
