The Strain's Fourth and Final Season Gets Premiere Date on FX

The final chapter of The Strain now has a start date.

The fourth and final season of the FX vampire thriller will premiere Sunday, July 16 at 10/9c, the network announced Tuesday. FX revealed that Season 4 will be the show’s last when it renewed The Strain last September.

From executive producers Carlton Cuse and Guillermo del Toro, The Strain stars Corey Stoll (House of Cards) and David Bradley (Game of Thrones) and is set in a dystopian New York City where humans fight against a viral outbreak connected to an ancient strand of vampirism. Season 3 ended with a (literal) bang as an explosion triggered a global nuclear apocalypse, with the resulting nuclear winter allowing the vampires to roam free and take over.

Thankfully for fans, The Strain‘s final season wasn’t completely unexpected: Cuse told TVLine’s Matt Mitovich last year that “we are definitely moving towards an ending” as they began to develop stories for Season 4, allowing them to wrap things up in satisfying fashion.

Coming back 3 days after my brithday sweet!! Sad it’s the last season.

  2. James Lawler says:

I love the show, it’s based on his book series which there are only 4 books total anyways, breaking the first in two seasons and the rest covered within the second half of the series

  3. Tasha says:

Walder Frey can’t catch a break. The season finale of Game of Thrones last year, this is the last season of this show and has the same premiere date as Game of Thrones really…

  4. AngelWasHere says:

So glad this show is ending. I don’t think I could watch another season of this.

So dont watch. Dont understand why you are glad it is ending?

It has a lot of fans.

Also to the writer it wasnt a global nuclear blast it was just nyc that got the nuke.

  5. Strain Fan says:

I really enjoyed this not-so-typical vampire story. David Bradley is a pleasure to watch, no matter what the role. (I’d like to see him in a comedic part some day). July’s looking good for me with The Strain and Game of Thrones back on. So glad summer isn’t a TV dead zone anymore.

I hope another network will pick it up. This could be as good as the walking dead.
