Supergirl General Zod Spoilers

Supergirl EP Teases General Zod's Arrival, Comic-Inspired Appearance

The “how” and “when” of General Zod’s arrival on Supergirl remains a mystery, but thanks to executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, at least we know what the legendary DC Comics villain will be wearing.

“It’s a bit of a fun surprise,” Kreisberg tells TVLine of Zod’s first appearance. “He doesn’t have a lot of screen time, so I can’t say our interpretation is as nuanced as either [Superman/II‘s] Terence Stamp or [Man of Steel‘s] Michael Shannon, but we did one thing to put our own stamp on it — at least visually.”

He says that Supergirl‘s Zod (played by Smallville actor Mark Gibbon) will be sporting “a little bit of that Nazi uniform look you’d see in the comics in the ’60s. Visually, he has a different look from the mechanical armor that Man of Steel did, or the real spacey clothes Richard Donner’s version had.

“It’s definitely fun for us,” Kreisberg says. “And when you see the context in which he appears, it could only be Zod in that episode.

  1. Azerty says:

I hope it is just a cameo as it is hinted because between Aunt Astra last season and mother in law Reah this year I don’t really want another powerful Kryptonian military leader as a villain on the show…

    • canadian ninja says:

      Nerd Check: Reah is Daxamite!
And her character is awful. Like, I get she’s a villain but it’s so cartoonish she belongs in a disney cartoon hunting mermaids or dalmations.

But yeah, Kryptonians be like everywhere on this show.

  2. Phun says:

Cannot wait. I wonder if his appearance will lead to him being the BIG BAD in season 3.

  3. Joey Padron says:

Can’t wait for his appearance on the show in the season finale!

  4. Butch says:

My guess is that the device Mon-El’s Mom is working on with Lena is really a Phantom Zone projector and it will be used to free Zod.

  5. badgamer1967 says:

Except for the first seasons of both The Flash and Arrow all these shows are complete messes, Smallville did it better.

  6. Ws says:

I’m just kindof tired of the overuse of Zod of late in different media.. would prefer another option.

    • Much rather have Zod then nothing

      • Realist says:

Please this show is a joke. It destroys every comic kryptonian mythology.. all supergirls villains are superman villians. Supergirls struggles to fight humans for gods sake this is a show that destroys character like superman. The aim here is to make it seem like even aliens want to be human and we are the beacon of civilisation. Superman was created to be looked up to inspire humanity not be one is. That’s the same mistake comics have made empowered human relatible and for years the comics have declined in sales due to this approach. General zod like a Nazi. The cannot even be original. Supergirls from an advanced civilisation but so dumb in from of a human. Lena . Humans have knowledge and devices for everything aliens can throw at them. What the need for superheroes. Humans must be the most race in the universe. The can think up anything. Grow up this show is a joke. Dexamites are and offshoot of kryptonian expansion. Mon el cannot live on earth of past because all the lead and was put into phantom zone by superman to save him and the future brain 5 creates a serum for him. This is crap

  7. jessy says:

the woman Ursa from from Zod’s kroptonian villain criminal team should be the one battling super girl !

  8. Mark says:

With the over the top hinting on the last Lucifer is there a crossover coming like did Constantine on Arrow.

  9. Em Yusoff says:

    Last minutes of the finale!

  10. Lame says:

Have Lucifer’s mother appear in the Super girl finale, Ha.

  11. KJack says:

Season 2 is trash and I hope season 3 steps up the action, superheroism, darker storylines, and tones down the melo drama and political commentary. It’s getting a little preachy and sanctimonious. It’s a comic book based superhero show not Meet The Press.
