black-ish, Grace and Frankie, Modern Family, House of Cards, Orange is the New Black, VeepThe Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and The Night Of each scored two nominations.

Couple key takeaways: NBC’s This Is Us did not score a drama ensemble nod, although Sterling K. Brown was singled out (one of two nominations for the breakout actor, who was also recognized for this work in The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story — watch his emotional reaction here); Downton Abbey spitfire and SAG Awards fave Maggie Smith failed to score a best-actress cut for the PBS drama’s final season (the first time she wasn’t in the running for her role as the Dowager Countess.

  1. Staci says:

I can’t believe the entire cast of This Is Us wasn’t nominated! But I’m so happy to see Sterling K. Brown on the list.

  2. jtrattray says:

Where is Speechless? I thought it might be too early, but This Is Us is there. It’s better than every show nominated.

  3. Gerald says:

No Ensemble for This Is Us? Boo
No Love for Arrow stunt team? Boo

  4. Gerald says:

I’d also like to have seen The Good Place, it has a great ensemble, main and supporting actors. As does Brooklyn 99.

  5. Ally says:

Ugh no This is Us and no Lauren Graham (I don’t think the show should be nominated but wish she’d at least get some recognition!! Too bad!) This is Us should definitely be on there! What a shame! Love Stranger Things!!

  6. Happy for Sterling’s two nods, he deserves it so much but so so disappointed that there’s no ensemble nod for This Is Us, and no nods for Milo..He’s so good in this show.

  7. Kathryn says:

Downton freaking Abbey? Seriously? The last season was awful. It hasn’t been good since season three. It’s like they get their needle stuck on one show and keep nominating it when it gets bad.

    • Saynay says:

Thank you. I was going to comment on this as well. Nomination real estate is precious these days. They shouldn’t waste it on Downton Abbey.

  8. ToyCannon says:

“This Is Us” is the best ensemble drama in years. Shame on you SAG, for overlooking this great show.

  9. Guy says:

Wow, not a single nomination for The Americans. What a shame.

  10. pharruda says:

The Big Bang Theory being one of the most overrated shows in history is just my personal opinion, but the fact that awards shows fail to recognize that its cast is on autopilot and collecting checks is just wrong. Every now and then I watch a current episode and is sounds like a watered version of early seasons.

There are much more deserving ensembles, like The Good Place, Brooklyn 99, You’re The Worst and Bob’s Burgers, to name a few.

  11. Tom says:

Yet another awards show that nominates around politics more than quality.

Hoping The Crown sweeps it and merit wins the day.

  12. Jared says:

    Arrows stunt team got robbed!

  13. JudyVee says:

Where is Rectify? Where is Aden Young????? Very disappointed!

  14. Kimberly says:

I’m disappointed not to see the cast of Outlander nominated.

  15. Kay says:

So happy for the Grace and Frankie love!!

  16. Jodi says:

Glad to see Sterling K Brown recognized for This Is Us.
For such a fantastic show, there should he been more recognition.
Definitely should have been nominated for Ensemble.

  17. Joey Padron says:

Happy Sterling got nominated twice. Sad This Is Us didn’t get a nomination.

  18. Phil says:

Rachel Bloom also got dropped! From winner to non-nominee – like you said, hot and cold.

    • webly3 says:

She wasn’t nominated for a SAG Award. She was nominated for a Golden Globe (which she successfully repeated this year). But, I would have loved to see her nominated for a SAG Award.

  19. Great to see Sterling K Brown nominated! Both of those shows have been the best on TV in the past year. Surprised though to not see This Is Us nominated for drama ensemble or any of the ladies nominated for acting. Sarah Paulson is killing it this year! She was fantastic as Marcia Clark.

  20. webly3 says:

I like all the appreciation This Is Us is getting, but I realize now that I’m very bitter that Parenthood was never recognized in big award shows besides the Golden Globe nomination for Monica Potter and the Emmy nomination for Jason Ritter in season 4.

Also, I thought this was probably as good as the SAG Awards could have been, so I’ll take these noms! And, I’m very excited for Thandie Newton.

  21. Cas says:

This is Us got robbed. Milo is fantastic.

  22. flutiefan says:

I had literally never heard of “The Crown” until awards season started.

  23. Cate says:

Really happy to see Thandie Newton rather than Evan Rachel Wood from Westworld get the nod. It was bizzare that ERW got lead and Newton supporting at the Critics Choice – guess they were judged on the first couple of eps. Newton was absolutely brilliant

  24. Alichat says:

They really need to break these awards up. We now have three or four platforms for quality television…..network, cable, premium, and online streaming….but the Screen ACTOR’s Guild Awards lumps them all into three awards for tv drama, three for tv comedy, two for mini/limited series, and one stunt award. Just crazy.

  25. Jecly says:

Why on earth did Modern Family, Downtown Abbey and Big Bang Theory even get nominated? Those noms should’ve gone to This is Us, Brooklyn Nine Nine!

  26. Jessica says:

I love OITNB so much, but why do they keep putting it & Uzo Aduba in the comedy category? Season 4 was the most dramatic yet! Also, I know Piper is one of the most hated characters, but I think Taylor Schilling is so fantastic, especially in S4. She gets overlooked by all award shows every year. It seems only the SAG awards even acknowledge OITNB anymore.

  27. crazy how the best show on tv twd is only up for one award and it’s for stunt team. Andrew Lincoln, Norman Reedus and a bunch of others, should be up there too. Just ridiculous….

  28. Terrie Fw says:

Its really about time that all these Award ASSociatíon get up to speed on the EXCELLENCE of Outlander and stop snubbing them!!!
