Scott Foley Cast Fatal Vision

Scandal's Scott Foley to Star in True Crime TV Movie Fatal Vision

Scott Foley‘s got a killer (or is it?) new role.

The Scandal star has signed on to Investigation Discovery’s Fatal Vision, in which he’ll play an Army captain convicted of murdering his family, our sister site Deadline reports.

The TV movie, based on Joe McGinniss’ nonfiction bestseller of the same name, chronicles the 1970 murders of pregnant Colette MacDonald and her daughters, Kimberly and Kristen. Foley’s character, Jeffery MacDonald, also was wounded in what he later told investigators was a ritualistic, Manson Family-style home invasion.

Despite his claims of innocence, MacDonald was sentenced to consecutive life sentences in prison years later for killing his entire family.

Linda Berman (Madoff) will produce alongside Lincoln Square Productions and ABC Studios. Production will begin this month.

Fatal Vision will be the second TV-movie treatment of the material; a 1984 miniseries of the same name starred Gary Cole (Veep) and Karl Malden (The Streets of San Francisco), the latter of whom won an Emmy for his performance as MacDonald’s father-in-law.

Great! So now we’re rebooting old TV movies of the week too? C’mon people! I saw this 30 years ago! Loved it, but don’t need to see it again like this.

I believe the first line should read “TV’s Scott Foley”…

    Why are they remaking this?

  4. Superfan says:

If he’s in it…I’ll watch it

So they are going to remake a miniseries (that does not need a remake) but base it on the EXACT same book? Unless it’s going to include things about all of MacDonald’s appeals, what is the point? The original still holds up so they should just save the money and use it to put it on DVD. With so many true crime stories out there (recent and in the past), I see no point in a remake.

Anyhoo, to me Gary Cole is always going to be Jeffrey MacDonald which is horrible but no matter what he is in I always think of that miniseries. That’s how amazing he was in the role.
