Alicia Silverstone-Led '70s Dramedy American Woman Snags TV Land Order

Far out: Alicia Silverstone‘s ’70s-set American Woman has just been ordered to series at TV Land.

The cabler confirms that it has greenlit 12 episodes of the half-hour dramedy, which stars the Clueless actress an unconventional mother struggling to raise her two daughters after leaving her husband. With the help of her two best friends, Kathleen (Mena Suvari) and Diana (Jennifer Bartels), the trio will each discover their own brand of independence in a world reluctant to give it.

Inspired by the life of Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ Kyle Richards, the series is being shepherded by Emmy-winning 30 Rock producer/writer John Riggi, who serves as an EP alongside John Wells.

In a statement, TV Land’s head of development said, “We feel very lucky to be working with John Riggi and John Wells on this fantastic series that is not only beautifully written and directed, but has a stellar cast that portrays the themes of the ‘70s in a way that is still relevant today.”

  2. This looks interesting! I trust TVLand because of good Younger is. This actually sounds like a mix of Younger and Good Girls Revolt (both amazing shows).
