Donald Trump Singles Out NBC Campaign Reporter at Rally, Revives Online #ImWithTur Battlecry

Donald Trump can’t seem to stop thinking about his favorite “third-rate” campaign reporter.

At a Miami rally Wednesday, the Republican presidential candidate publicly called out NBC’s Katy Tur, who has covered his White House bid since its inception and with whom he’s had issues in the past.

Trump repeatedly used Tur’s first name when pointing out what he believes is media bias in coverage of President Barack Obama.

“He ought to be working on jobs, on the border, on building up our military instead of campaigning for crooked Hillary Clinton. It’s what he ought to be doing,” Trump told a riled-up crowd that moments earlier had chanted how much it hated CNN. “They’re not reporting it. Katy, you’re not reporting it, Katy. But there’s something happening, Katy. There’s something happening, Katy.”

According to at least one other reporter also present at the event, the crowd then took up Trump’s taunting themselves:

Trump’s annoyance with Tur goes back to December 2015, when he was displeased she tweeted about low attendance at one of his rallies in South Carolina. At the time, he pointed out that “Little Katy” was “back there” and later called her a “third-rate reporter.” Tur later wrote about how Secret Service agents had to escort her to her vehicle that night in order to protect her from the whipped-up crowd.

The GOP candidate’s comments Wednesday revived a Twitter hashtag — #ImWithTur — with which users of the social media site rallied around the on-air reporter.

    What a bully.

    • Maddie says:

No, it’s not bullying by calling out the press on their bias. CNN gave Hillary debate questions in advance for crying out loud!

      • Maggie says:

Turn doesn’t work for CNN, and has covered Trump fairly. He just doesn’t like it when they report the truth and not just his public relations material.

      • Maggie says:

ONE person at CNN gave Clinton ONE question, the topic of which anyone could have told you was going to be asked. It was a topic that was all over the news, and most likely Clinton had already realized that it would be a question.

        • LKE says:

Trump is a bully. And the worst kind of public figure, because he’s in a position to do good and instead, rails on someone just trying to do their job.

    • babydolle says:

so you rather support liars and corrupt people than someone who tells the truth?

      • Joey says:

I’d rather support a liar and corrupt person over someone who freely encourages physical violence against people he just happens to not like.

      • arial2 says:

By “tells the truth,” do you mean his bigotry, racism or misogyny, or all three?

        • Dyskord says:

          Its gonna be a Trumpslide.
i wonder what you’ll think of Hillary after the NYCPD drops the Weiner emails.

just remember. Its sheep like you who follow the media and ignore the difficult truth who supported Hitler, marched lockstep for Stalin and support governments like North Korea and China but I suppose the world can’t only have free thinkers. People who slavishly follow have their uses.

      • Jami says:

Trump is a liar. He lied about the war in Iraq. He lied that he respects women. He has never release his income taxes, because he doesn’t want anyone to know of how much business he has done with Russia ad China He lied about Trump University. He lied about how much his Daddy gave him to start little Donny in business. He has lied so much, but his supporters don’t care. Just like I don’t care about Clinton’s email. The Orange man is filled with hate and is deplorable.

  2. madbengalsfan85 says:

He has some momentum for the first time since the debates and what does he do with it? He goes after a reporter, because he can’t help himself

If Trump is good at one thing, it’s shooting himself in the foot

    • Dyskord says:

He’s been doing so much more but the media wont cover it. The fact this is the only thing they have to attack him is the reason they give it so much air time.

He’s had monstrous momentum since the beginning its just been under reported.
Keep following the Clinton News Network like the rest of the herd.
Hillary is a pedophile as well as being a corrupt sell out.
      google it.

      • KCC says:

You’re right. They already covered his misogyny, his bankruptcies, his racism, his inability to make two consecutive intelligible sentences, his income taxes, his calling an election rigged before it even happens, etc. All they have left is his pettiness…at least until his opens his mouth again. Remind me again what he’s actually done that the media won’t cover. Vague statements that end with “you know what I mean” leaving it up to the listener to infer whatever they want don’t count. We need actual FACTS and evidence, not generalizations and innuendo.

      • Mary says:

OMG are you really serious. He has been covered more than any other candidate since the primary. The media never called him out on his lies in the beginning, how do you really think he got this far, especially with no support. You attack CNN but every night they show his speeches that he gives. Open your eyes and be logical. He attacks the press when they point out his lies, yet he loves them when praise him. He attacks the polls when they are in his favor but claims they are rigged when he is loosing. I can see how one might think he only gets press when it is negative but lets call a spade a spade. If he shut up once in awhile and think before he speaks he might not come off like a total buffoon and shoot himself in the foot. Reading statements from his supporter I can now understand how Jones was able to get his followers to drink the poison. Sad really that we have many sheep that are willing to be lead to slaughter.

  3. CK says:

The worst part about being called out by Trump is the online harassment that comes with it. Her twitter mentions must be hell right now.

    • CK says:

(Also, Fl seems like a place Mike Pence should be securing during the final week while Trump makes the needed inroads in PA/CO. Always send the primary to the most pressing state.)

      • Maggie says:

Trump’s campaign is mismanaged, mainly because Trump doesn’t listen to the people with experience. He listens to his children, son-in-law, and mostly himself, before listening to the professionals he’s hired.

  4. Luis Roman says:

The #CreepingOrangeHorror at his misogynistic best

  5. Ron says:

Trump is extremely dangerous when it comes to our basic rights and freedoms, and the way he incites violence and hatred amongst his followers is truly horrifying. And I am honestly frightened for my country and myself. We all know how he has revealed an ugly underbelly of our country full of racists, homophobes, misogynists, xenophobes, Islamophobes, anti-semites, etc., and I worry we won’t recover from that for awhile. But what he has done to turn people against the press is equally horrifying. He has outright banned certain media organizations from covering him when they don’t write things about him he doesn’t like, explicitly spitting on our constitution by ignoring that whole Freedom of the Press part. He instigates his supporters to taunt this reporter who’s just trying to do her job. He has supporters shouting “Jew-S-A” to members of the media. He has supporters using the term “Lügenpresse,” a German term that translates to “lying press” that was used by the Nazi regime as an anti-democratic slogan as a condemnation of the press at that time. I just don’t even know what to say about what is happening except that I’m truly scared of living in my own country, and I never thought I’d say that.

    • Haz says:

But Hillary lining reporters pockets make her the female Honeste Abe, eh?

      • Patrick says:

Show me proof of that. Video evidence of a name reporter from a big time media outlet.

        • Dyskord says:

Ha ha ha. Sop you wont trust anything unless its spoon fed to you by the MSM.
You admit to being a brainwashed stooge who’d believe the earth is flat as long as CNN said it was so.
          People like you are hopeless.

    • Maddie says:

The press is completely in the bag for Hillary Clinton. If you can’t realize that, then I am truly scared for the country.

      • Ron says:

Would you like to point me to where I said the press, on the whole, didn’t prefer Hillary? Because that’s not what I said. Obvious press preference is obvious. That doesn’t mean you get to spit on the press’ constitutional rights or refer to them in anti-semitic terms or pro-Nazi propagandistic terms.

        • Dyskord says:

As reported upon by whom, Oh yeah the biased press you just mentioned.

So let me just get this straight. The press are biased against him and do favor Hillary but we should believe their negative reporting on Trump because they are the press i.e fair and impartial.

somewhere there’s a flaw to your logic. i wont hold my breath that you’d find it though.

          • Ron says:

Ugh. No flawed logic. I won’t hold my breath that you’ll actually follow what I’m (very straightforwardly) saying. The overwhelming media preference for Clinton is clear. If Trump and his followers don’t want to believe the media, that’s fine! I’m very clearly NOT arguing for y’all to believe them–it’s your choice whether you do or not. (Even though Trump followers and surrogates have openly admitted to not caring about facts.) What I’m saying is the media are constitutionally protected to have those preferences, and Trump’s media censoring as a presidential candidate is really pushing unconstitutionality. And, again, choosing to not believe media is fine! What’s NOT fine is using Nazi slogans to classify them.

          • Mary says:

Unless it’s fox news right because they aren’t bias in the least. Get real.

    • blisterpeanuts says:

No violence by Trump supporters. There’s a few fringe idiots and more than a few people hired by Democratic operatives at $1500 each to generate violence.

      • Carol C says:

        • peterwdawson says:

Yeah sadly people forget James O’Keefe is a proven fraudster (like been successfully sued over previous accounts and raw footage runs counter to initial tapes proven) so his footage of DNC types paying for disruptions is currently hurting any ‘violence at Trump rally’ narrative, despite everything.

  6. Haz says:

Seriously you people get annoyed by this? You deserve Hillary Clinton as a president. Peoples words can aggravate you more than a person who’s campaign is built around lies, cheating, and corruption? Give me a break!

    • Simon Jester says:

You don’t think Trump’s campaign is built around lies, cheating, and corruption? (With a delicious candy coating of misogyny and racism?) Take off your blinders and Google Trump U and Trump charitable giving, for a start.

    • Maggie says:

Trump’s entire career has been built on lies, cheating and corruption. He’s also ignorant regarding the legislative process, foreign relations, the Constitution, and almost anything a President is required to know.

  7. Angela says:

And people seriously still think someone as thin-skinned and immature as him should be president of the United States. *Shakes head*

    • Maggie says:

Letting someone like Trump be Commander In Chief of the US Military, and be the person who makes the final decision on launching nuclear missiles, is insane.

  8. Sue says:

I desperately hope that a week from now we’ll have a new president whose name is Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump can take his bulling and bitter self elsewhere.

  9. Sue says:

    Sorry, I misspelled bullying.

  10. Paul says:

Donald Trump is the lowest form of pond scum on earth. He should be in jail for sexual assault and rape of a 12 year old girl. Instead he is doing all he can to destroy American democracy. SCUM!

  11. babydolle says:

maybe the NEWS reporters should TRY telling the TRUTH, i dont feel sorry for corrupt MSM liars….

    • Jami says:

Maybe Fox news should quit making up conspiracy theories. Yeah Hillary and the Press are good friends LOL. Trump can’t stop lying, bullying, spewing hate. Trump does not give the media any positive news because he is so divisive. Any person who wants to ban the press is crazy. Any person who wants to be President in his first 100 days and will sue 12 woman claiming sexual harassment, when he admitted on tape that’s what he does, because he can get away with it. Donald Trump is not dealing in reality

  12. babydolle says:

who feels sorry for the lying corrupt MSM?

  13. Tracy says:

There’s something incredibly distasteful and horrifying about a bunch of people chanting “Lock her up”. It brings back images of Hitler’s rally at Nuremberg. I’m afraid Donald Trump has ruined the United States for a very long time

  14. Chloe says:

I’ve felt Tur was biased against him from the moment she asked a woman [months ago]: “Why would you vote for *him*?, with the emphasis on “him”. Personally, I don’t care who a reporter votes for but they’re supposed to *try* to appear unbiased. They’re reporting the news, not doing an editorial or giving their personal opinions.

    • Mary says:

You know what the press has asked Clinton supporters on why they would vote for her? Your statement defies any logic whatsoever.

  15. PatriciaLee says:

The husband chuckled, “He’s a nut, isn’t he.” The article having no byline, also, deserves a chuckle. Just tossing it out to stand back and watch the frenzy, that was a good touch. A white hat, really? He’s oblivious, like a kid. Most listeners would have no idea who the Katy is, since he didn’t say her last name. The husband was thinking it was Katie Couric, and I had to explain it to him, which I only knew because of this article’s explanation. Of course, the chanting with Trump’s satisfied smile, then taunting her seemed out there. But maybe it wasn’t a taunt, but him still being unappreciated, which he finds mind boggling. The husband thinks Trump was wearing the white hat to show the world he is a good guy. I find that mind boggling, too.

    • Maggie says:

Trump has been talking about Katy Tur for a long time. She’s the person who covers his campaign, not Katie Couric. Most of his followers know his feelings on Tur, since he talks and tweets about her, so they knew who he was talking about. He gave one of his first interviews after announcing he was running for President to Tur, and mocked her and criticized her during that interview. It wasn’t based on anything she had done, because he had just announced, and she hadn’t reported on him yet. He treated her with contempt because she was a woman. He has treated other women who have interviewed him or reported on him the same way, but not men.

  16. arial2 says:

You’d think he had more important things to talk about with just a few days left.

  17. CrookedGOP says:

    He shoulda called her TURD-FIRST!

  18. HAP says:

Katy Tur has had it hard enough. Her father, Bob Tur, a former TV helicopter pilot underwent gender reassignment surgery and is now a woman, and Katy dated Keith Olbermann for a long time. Give her a break.

  19. herman1959 says:

I can’t wait or this election to be over!
