Fall TV Preview

Supernatural Photos: A Family Reunion, Plus Rick Springfield's Rockin' Debut

Mamma mia, here we go again. Supernatural is staging another rescue mission in a fresh batch of photos from the CW series’ Oct. 20 episode — but this time, it’s a different set of Winchesters out to save one of their own.

Dean is reluctant to put his newly resurrected mom in harm’s way, but Mary can more than hold her own, judging by the sneak peek. And at the end of what looks like a bloody mission to rescue Sam, the mother and son — and fans — are rewarded with not only a brotherly reunion, but a Winchester family homecoming, too.

Elsewhere, Rick Springfield makes his debut as rock star Vince Vicente, the new vessel of Lucifer.

After bouncing from body to body, the fallen angel finally stops and realizes, “‘God’s gone. I have a free playing field here. I could go take over heaven or hell, but is that what I really want?'” executive producer Andrew Dabb previews. “What he discovers is that, in some ways, God had the right idea. Worship is fun. Having people worship you, it’s a good time. Unfortunately, there’s a lot of baggage with the name Lucifer, let’s put it that way. So for him, popping into someone like the rock star Vince Vincente, it allows him experience that almost God-like worship.”

Oh right. Because the writers don’t actually remember that whole perfect vessel storyline. He can just hop from body to body as he pleases now. Ugh.

    • The reason he needs to switch bodies is because they wear out. It actually fits with the storyline. He can posses any body, but only the perfect vessels will last.

    • Bob says:

Except that’s the entire point? Lucifer could always hop from body to body, they just won’t hold him long. Sam is his “perfect vessel” but there are surely more people out there like Nick who could hold him for months at a time.

  2. Ninamags says:

Well we don’t know if the vessel is drinking copious amounts of demon blood. They’ve told us about it once, they shouldn’t have to remind us of this, or show it.

It will be a neat way for Lucifer to keep taking on new bodies. He’ll burn through them eventually and need somebody new.

  3. 1idpete says:

I think it would be comic gold if Rick Springfield was playing a parody of himself as a vessel of Lucifer.

Jensen at SDCC 2016: “Yeah, Dean and Sam get back together eventually, I don’t know when, I haven’t read the script yet.”

So he hadn’t read the script for the episode they were filming right then? Okkkaaayyy.

  5. I hope they show Lucifer’s new vessel drinking demon blood, and deteriorating, but I’m not holding my breath.

    • Bob says:

The person doesn’t need to be drinking demon blood in order for Lucifer to use him as a vessel.

      • Based on canon they do have to drink blood in order to house him. The show mentioned that Nick had to drink a lot of demon blood and Sam had to drink some too before he said yes. Castiel doesn’t count because his body is no longer human Jimmy Novak but a “divine clone” God built for him after Samifer vaporized him in ‘Swan Song”.

Just came here to say Jared looks spectacular.

I’m confused, the CW website says Supernatural (and Legends of tomorrow) are back on October 13th not 20th.
