NCIS: LA Premiere Moves Up a Week, as CBS' JonBenet Series Gets Trimmed

The NCIS: Los Angeles agents will christen their new Sunday home sooner than expected.

With CBS’ The Case of: JonBenet Ramsey docuseries being trimmed from six to four total hours (now premiering Sunday, Sept. 18 and concluding Monday, Sept. 19), NCIS: LA will open Season 8 a week earlier than originally scheduled — on Sunday, Sept. 25, at 8:30/7:30c (leading out of a football doubleheader).

What’s more, NCIS: LA will return with two fresh episodes: “High-Value Target,” in which the Secretary of Defense (Drop Dead Divas‘ Jackson Hurst) takes over the Los Angeles unit in light of the unresolved mole mystery, and “Belly of the Beast,” where the team travels to Syria where one agent is severely injured. (Look no further than our Fall Preview Spectacular for the 411 on the unlucky agent.)

    Woo,good news!

  2. JC1 says:

Good news. I’m ready for this mole storyline to be done with once and for all.

  3. Iris says:

It could have been trimmed down to zero. Wasn’t that poor little girl used enough already, in life and death? The only thing I’d like to know is that her murderer was brought to justice, while hoping they made no other victim since.

I have to agree. There was a special on A&E, Dateline and now CBS, and I’m sure more that I didn’t hear about. They are all reporting on the same information. There’s nothing new here, unfortunately.

I wish the media would stop exploiting that family and let poor JonBenet rest in peace. Both parents and the brother were exonerated by DNA and there is no need for all this crap to continue. OK end of rant…………………………..
Really glad NCIS:LA is coming back early.

  4. Ken says:

Why did they trim it down? Thats a big excision unless they mean trimmed to just 2 nights but still showing the full 6 hours…

  5. Billy Bob Johnson says:

They can trim the other four hours of ‘The Case Of…’ NO ONE cares about the JonBenet Ramsey story.

  6. Jim J. says:

I think a possible reason for the reduction of the JonBenet Ramsey miniseries is because they simply didn’t have enough content to fill six hours. According to sibling site Deadline, CBS saw a cut of the miniseres and decided that it was best to have it at only four hours.

  7. I’m really excited NCIS:LA is coming back early, and only partly because ,as someone who has lived in Colorado most of their life, I am really sick of hearing about the Jon Benet case

  8. Steven Cohen says:

    Two questions related to LA:

    1) Other reputable sources currently report the premiere as continuing on the originally scheduled date of Oct. 2. How will the first few episodes play out date wise? I know Oct. 9 is out because of one of the debates.

    2) Further, for the purposes of scheduling my DVR appropriately, how could Pacific Time Zone viewers be impacted by NFL telecasts, and in which weeks could impacts occur?

  9. NoRightToNotBeOffended says:

There is zero percent chance I will waste my time watching the JonBenet show.

I’m hoping the Secretary coming &/or the mole thing ending means the end of “Granger”! (If you look back at the 2-parter named after Kensi, he says that’s the reason he’s there. Then, in “Kill House”, he lets a former friend capture Nell & hold a gun on her… Miguel is great, but the character is far past wearing-out their welcome or usefulness!!)

  11. I love your guys work and the keep you on your seat person keep up the great work
