Narcos Renewed for Seasons 3 and 4

Just days after its sophomore run started streaming, Netflix’s Narcos in one fell swoop has been renewed for Seasons 3 and 4.

José Padilha and Eric Newman will continue to serve as executive producers of the series, which will debut Season 3 sometime in 2017, Netflix announced.

Narcos chronicles the real-life stories of the drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict. Im doing so, it details the many, often-conflicting forces —- legal, political, police, military and civilian — that clash in the effort to control cocaine, one of the world’s most valuable commodities.

  1. Sam says:

The spike in critical acclaim probably had a lot to do with this. Critics have more power than ever, seeing as stuff like Halt and Catch Fire is now on its third season.

  2. Walkie says:

Glad they are moving on from Escobar. Man did they drag that out.

  3. Leena WT says:

Can’t wait for season 3! Although, I am pretty bummed Steve Murphy is no longer involved. From what they’ve shown it seems like only Javier Pena will be involved in the new kingpin’s storyline. They made such a good duo on the show :(

    • militantgod says:

I don’t mind Murphy but Pena is the way more fascinating character. Thankfully his role was increased in season 2 and for what seems like the future. No idea if Murphy is going to be in it next year but it wouldn’t be a huge loss.

  4. The Beach says:

    Ballsy move!

  5. Chol H Yoon says:

I’m watching season 2 and love the show, but who will be the main antagonist in seasons 3 & 4, Cali Cartel or Mexican drug lords? Will they eventually include “El Chapo” Guzman, who is waiting extradition?

  6. Adrian says:

Ok Netflix and the producers of narcos have done a awesome job thus far, however although the Escobar series has come to an end. May I please say alot of what the Medellin cartels drama was left out, like no mention of Griselda Blanco, who was part of the Medellin cartel before she had a falling out with Escobar. I believe this would have been a great story to place in the narcos episodes.

I have studied many of the gang cultures and stories, let’s try to stay with the absolute truth for the next series with the creative script.

Narcos is a hit! By all means but let’s see alot of the real cold hard truth. Don’t forget the stories of Miami where the Medellin cartel changed the face of Miami. Like the Dade land mall massacre and stories about Mickie mundane, John Roberts and George Jung who brought cocaine into the United states.

The cold truth is the Medellin cartel was way more powerful than the Cali cartel. They feared the whole cartel not just Escobar Cali cartel didn’t have shit on Medellin cartel which is why they could not take down Escobar head on. Netflix is doing a great job can’t wait for the next episodes but let’s get more facts out with the high intense drama rather than just hyped up fractions of the truth. But hey when has Hollywood ever told the truth.

  7. Mike M says:

“This show has always been about cocaine,” Eric Newman, an executive producer, told EW. The third season will reportedly follow the Cali Cartel, which, unlike Escobar’s Medellín Cartel, didn’t have a single leader. There’s no word yet on when the new seasons will premiere.
