Tony Bennett Birthday Special NBC

Tony Bennett's Star-Studded 90th Birthday Special Set at NBC

The best is set to come… in December on NBC.

That’s when the Peacock Net will air a tw0-hour special titled Tony Bennett Celebrates 90: The Best Is Yet to Come in honor of the crooner’s birthday, the network announced Tuesday during the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills.

The Grammy-winning Bennett, who will perform as part of the special, will be joined by artists including Lady Gaga, Aretha Franklin, Andrea Bocelli, Billy Joel, Elton John, Michael Bublé, Diana Krall, Rufus Wainwright, k.d. lang and Stevie Wonder.

Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), Kevin Spacey (House of Cards), John Travolta (The People v. O.J. Simpson), Bruce Willis (Die Hard) and Steve Buscemi (Boardwalk Empire) also will be on hand for the festivities.

The special will air Tuesday, Dec. 20, at 9/8c (though Bennett’s actual date of birth is Aug. 3).

“Since we celebrated Tony’s 80th birthday on NBC, it only seemed fitting that we should also stop and pay tribute to his 90th, a true milestone for the greatest living vocalist of popular music,” Robert Greenblatt, chairman of NBC Entertainment, said in a statement. “Happy birthday, Tony, your achievements are epic and your voice has been the soundtrack of four generations. We and the entire music business are in awe.”

oh lady Gaga will be performing too a shocker said NO ONE EVER!!!!

    • Because, you know, it doesn’t make sense for Lady Gaga to perform given that they have a Grammy together for the album they have together, that was celebrated in the tour they did together… plus, there were those commercials they did together… or the fact that they are friends…. I can’t imagine why she would be there?!?!?!?!?!?!

I’m fairly certain that Rufus Wainwright won’t even be recognized by many on here. Very accomplished musician, has even written operas. That said a 1976 album recorded by his late mother Kate and his aunt Anna titled Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle is an absolute classic

Tony Bennett is my most favorite singer ever. “Because of You” is my husband’s and my song. In 1952 when we got married, that song was so popular. To us, it still is.
A happy birthday, Tony. You most certainly are the best.
