TVLine Items: Code Black Guest Stars, The Rock Hits Muscle Beach and More

Code Black‘s Angels Memorial Hospital will be as busy as ever during Season 2. Camryn Manheim (Person of Interest), Eric Roberts (Suits) and Alexandra Grey (Transparent) are set to guest-star on the CBS drama in an episode titled “Life and Limb.”

Manheim will play the distraught wife of a truck driver who is injured in a horrific accident, Roberts will play Mario’s (Ben Hollingsworth) opportunistic, but sympathetic father, and Grey (a transgender actress) will play a transgender woman who’s sent to the ER with stomach pains.

Code Black Season 2 premieres Wednesday, Sept. 28 at 10/9c.

* Dwayne Johnson is developing for USA Network Muscle Beach, an hourlong scripted drama set in a Venice Beach bodybuilding gym during the 1980s, the actor announced via Instagram.

* Adam Croasdell (EastEnders, NCIS) will recur on Season 4 of The CW’s Reign as Bothwell, Queen Mary’s third husband, when the series returns midseason.

* Musician Kid Cudi is set to play Hakeem’s rival in Season 3 of Fox’s Empire, which premieres Wednesday, Sept. 21 at 9 pm, EW.com reports.

* Crazy Ex-Girlfriend has booked Parvesh Cheena (A to Z) to recur on Season 2 as a single dad who befriends Paula. The Emmy-nominated series returns Friday, Oct. 21 at 9 pm.

* AMC’s upcoming drama The Son, starring Pierce Brosnan, has added J. Quinton Johnson (ABC’s upcoming Dirty Dancing remake), Nick Stevenson (Orange is the New Black) and Elizabeth Frances (Heartbeat) in recurring roles.

* OWN has released a trailer for its upcoming drama Queen Sugar, set to premiere with two new episodes on Tuesday, Sept. 6 and Wednesday, Sept. 7 at 10 pm.

    Holy crap! Eric Roberts at age 60 may just be the busiest actor in Hollywood today. Take a look at his IMDB page. He has something like four dozen roles either in the can or projected since the beginning of 2016.
