Supergirl Kara Meets Astra

Supergirl Season 1 to Air on The CW

Supergirl will touch down on her new home sooner than planned, now that The CW has announced its plan to encore every episode from Season 1, leading up to the Season 2 premiere.

Starting Aug. 1 (or as you may know it, Matt’s Birthday), The CW will air two Supergirl episodes every Monday, starting with the pilot. At that pace, all 20 freshman hours will have unspooled on The CW before the CBS transplant makes its super-official debut on Monday, Oct. 10 at 8/7c (where it will the following week lead into Jane the Virgin).

Among the guest cast on tap for Season 2 of Supergirl, Tyler Hoechlin (Teen Wolf) will appear in the first two episodes as Kara’s cousin aka James’ friend in blue aka Superman aka Kal-El aka Clark Kent, while TV’s erstwhile Wonder Woman, Lynda Carter, will recur as the President of the United States.

  1. YUJK says:

Couldn’t make time to air the animated Vixen web series though?

  2. Erica says:

    Great news!

  3. Phun says:

  4. Dave says:

Any news about the presence of Cat?

  5. Ann says:

Will they be showing it in order or in the order that CBS aired it?

    • Matt Webb Mitovich says:

      Let’s assume so ;)

      • Nichole says:

Well CBS did air a couple of episodes out of order in the wake of the Paris attack. So instead of the CBS order, they may opt to air it in the originally intended order.

      • Will says:

@Matt: Will Supergirl Season 1 be on Netflix soon – per their new deal? Or in Sept/October perhaps – per their old deal?

  6. What took so long? I’ve been expecting this to happen since the announcement it was moving to CW. I’m looking forward to the rewatch.

    • Gail says:

Yes the should have started airing this on the CW in June so they could air it once a week instead of twice per week. They been promoting it a lot on the CW so it was odd that they weren’t actually running it. If it was run once a week they could have paired it with I-Zombie repeats .

      • Triggs says:

They could have just wrapped up the legalities just recently, or they already have some time ago but waited until after the upcoming San Diego Comic Con.

    • Shaun says:

maybe the show wasn’t transferred until August?

  7. "A" says:

    Great news about “Supergirl” !
    ( August 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd, 29th, Sept 5th, 12th, 19th, 26th, Oct 3rd, and the premiere on 10th )

  8. Vince says:

Good business move. Let the CW be familiarized with her.

  9. swanjun says:

Will it also be available on the CW website? My TV doesn’t pick up the CW and now that the Hulu partnership has dissolved…

    • Triggs says:

I bet CW will post the most recent episodes on their website after they air, isn’t that what they do with all their shows?

  10. Avinash says:

Still not sure about the casting of Tyler as Superman, but willing to give him a shot anyway.

  11. John Shoemaker says:

I’ll say it, Happy early Birthday Matt! ;)

  12. Carrie says:

I was hoping they’d do this. It’s a smart move, and I miss watching “Supergirl” on Monday nights. I’ve been wanting to watch the first season all over again.

  13. Melosm says:

I quit watching, maybe I will give it another try!

  14. But CW is no longer going to be on Hulu, so people like me who were looking forward to finally getting to watch Supergirl are screwed.

  15. Nancy Martin says:

Didn’t watch it on CBS because the stupid programmers put it up against another DC series “Gotham”. So, the same idiots have not seen the problem and put it in the same timeslot on The CW, idiots

    • Vince says:

See people thought that those 2 would kill each other airing agaisn’t each other but that didn’t happen. When Gotham was on hiatus Supergirl’s ratings did not a bump and vice versa. Monday has always been a problematic slot for CW and Supergirl keeping it’s timeslot helps it transition to CW.

Melissa benoist is the best supergirl ever
