TVLine Items: William Fichtner Targets Shooter, BUNK'D Return Date and More

Ryan Phillippe needs William Fichtner’s help on a new mission.

The Prison Break alum will guest-star on USA Network’s upcoming series Shooter, which is based on Stephen Hunter’s novel Point of Impact and the 2007 Mark Wahlberg film of the same name.

Fichtner, who was recently promoted to a series regular on the CBS comedy Mom, will play a former marine that Phillippe’s character seeks out as a mentor in his journey to stop an assassination attempt on the President of the United States.

Shooter is set to premiere Tuesday, July 19 at 10/9c. EW.com was the first to report Fichtner’s casting.

* Season 2 Disney Channel’s BUNK’D is set to premiere on Tuesday, Aug. 23 at 8 pm, with new episodes airing every night through Friday, per Variety.

* Tara Buck (True Blood) will recur on Season 4 of Showtime’s Ray Donovan as patrol cop Maureen Dougherty.

* India de Beaufort (Blood & Oil) has booked a recurring role on Season 3 of TV Land’s Younger, as a love interest for Charles (played by Peter Hermann).

* Starz is airing an Outlander Season 2 marathon on Saturday, July 2 starting at 12 pm, ahead of the 90-minute season finale airing July 9 at 9/8 c.

* To celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, the original art exhibit “Star Trek: 50 Artists. 50 Years” will be coming to NYC’s Paley Center from September 16 to 25, after debuting at San Diego Comic-Con in July.

    So glad William Fichtner is in high demand and busy. He is phenomenal. Just wish he was LEAD in his own drama/action show. Maybe based on “The Accountant” from Drive Angry. He OWNED that.
