Time After Time Recast

ABC's Time After Time Drama Recast: Nicole Ari Parker In, Regina Taylor Out

ABC is virtually traveling back in time, about six weeks, to tinker with the cast of its new Time After Time series.

Based on the Karl Alexander novel and 1979 movie, Time After Time stars Freddie Stroma (UnREAL) as a young H.G. Wells, who travels in his time machine to modern-day New York to chase after Jack the Ripper (Revenge‘s Josh Bowman).

In the original pilot, Regina Taylor (The Unit) costarred as Vanessa Anders, an art museum bigwig who harbors a special connection to Wells (as revealed in the trailer below). Per our sister site Deadline, the character did not test well and is being reworked, with Nicole Ari Parker (Soul Food, Rosewood) now filling the role.

Time After Time will debut at midseason, one of multiple time travel dramas on tap for the 2016-17 TV season.

I’m guessing itv2adnt the actress that didn’t test well, but the crap sounding storyline.

    • Wordsmith says:

Not sure how recasting an actress would change the storyline. Maybe you were just trying to be mean and clever, in which case, you get half credit.

  2. Daniel Snow says:

She didn’t test well because she was too dark. I bet.

    • Wordsmith says:

Ten seconds of footage doesn’t really allow for anything except superficial snap judgments. I’m not saying you’re flat-out wrong, but I’d bet that it’s a bit more complicated than that.
Too bad we’ll never know for sure, unless the original pilot gets leaked, as they’ll almost certainly reshoot it all.

Well done – a barely interesting premise of a show lowers the acting talent of show immensely by casting the no talent hack. Well done

Too bad. I love Regina Taylor.

  5. Cyndy says:

Looking forward to watching this show. Both actresses are great. Ms. Taylor has my vote sorry recast. She is better suited for the role in my opinion.

  6. keniri says:

Good thing they recast. I remember the original 1979 movie. Regina Taylor just wasn’t a perfect fit for this role.

  7. Gail says:

Except for the Great Grand Daughter the pilot seems to follow the plot of the movie exactly. If they have product placement with McDonald’s they will probably have Welles visit that Scottish place for pomme frites as in the movie.

  8. Carol_R says:

Probably Regina Taylor is too old for the role. She’s 10 years older that the actress who was recast in it.
