Beyond Borders Sneak Peek: Jack Is Ambushed in Johannesburg

It’s another unwarm welcome for the International Response Team when Criminal Minds: Beyond Borders rolls up to South Africa, as seen in this exclusive sneak peek.

In the first of tonight’s two new episodes (airing on CBS at 9/8c), when an American college student working in Johannesburg is killed and his brother goes missing, Jack and the team suspect a local gang could be behind both. In the clip above, said gang makes their opinion on the IRT’s intervention violently clear — but luckily 24 alum/Underground costar Mykelti Williamson (guest-starring as Brigadier General Yazeen Zwane) has got Jack’s back.

In this week’s second episode (airing in its usual 10pm time slot), American victims are found in different locations throughout Cuba, sending the International Response Team on a search for possible spree killers.

Is it any wonder they’re not welcome when the writers can’t help but make it seem like the team is all America-is-always-better and deliberately show the locals as understaffed/corrupt/inept?

This show is highly xenophobic right from the intro:
“over 68 millions Americans leave the safety of our borders every year….”.
Fear mongering television for a repubblican audience. I hate watch it.

Totally unbelievable that the host country’s police would act wide-eyed and genuflect to the mighty FBI , them them keep their guns and run roughshod over their investigators.Never mind that Americans are less safe at home than abroad.

This show deserves instant cancellation as a cynical attempt to feed off off American jingoism and makes no attempt to conceal the fact that they never leave the sound lot. For a show supposedly international in theme, the beauty shots of the subject locale cannot hide the fact that all scenes containing actors are shot in dingy nondescript markets or street corners that have been dressed up a bit to look foreign. Obviously no respect for American viewers of today, more like cheap shows of 1960’s with fake scenes outside cars etc. Disgusting!

When listing Mykelti Williamson’s previous work, how could you not mention the Forrest Gump connection? Seriously, you have Bubba Blue & Lt. Dan on screen together!
