The Good Wife Spinoff

Ratings: Penultimate Good Wife Draws 2nd-Largest Audience of Season

The penultimate episode of CBS’ The Good Wife this Sunday drew 9.1 million total viewers — its best audience since the season premiere — and a 1.0 rating, matching last week’s demo.

Bookending the expiring drama, Madam Secretary (9.9 mil/1.0) was steady and Elementary (5.5 mil/0.8) ticked up.

Elsewhere in the ratings….

ABC | Once Upon a Time (3.8 mil/1.2), The Family (3 mil/0.8) and Quantico (3.3 mil/1.0) were all steady in the demo, though Quantico ticked down to its smallest audience ever.

NBC | Little Big Shots (9.9 mil/1.6) continued to get littler yet still dominated the night. With a fresh lead-in, Carmichael Show (4.6 mil/1.0) and Crowded (3.2 mil/0.8) both ticked up.

FOX | Coverage of the American Country Music Countdown Country Music Awards Countdown Music did 3.8 mil/1.0 (vs. the 2 mil/0.9 that last Sunday’s largely original line-up averaged). Update: OK, apparent the ACMCCMACMs have aired before, in 2014, and this year’s was up, like, 10 percent.

Can’t wait to see the end of TGW next week. Don’t know if Carmichael show and/or Crowded get renewed because NBC desperately needs their sitcoms to become huge hits.

  2. Shaun says:

Why do they even need a pre-country awards show, wth!?

  3. wrstlgirl says:

I hope The Family gets renewed. I have a feeling we’re going to end on the cliffhanger that Adam is really alive. Fingers crossed but I know it’s a long shot.

  4. I get a sick feeling in my stomach when I think about next week’s TGW finale. I don’t think things will end well.

  5. 101 says:

It amazes me how a show gets 9.1 mil viewers but 1.0 demo rating, It doesn’t make sense.

    • KLS says:

Both Madam Secretary and TGW skew to the older demographic, 25-54, so their demo #s are going to be lower then say Once Upon a Time that had only 3.8mill viewers, yet a 1.2 overall demo (younger audience 18-24). Advertisers want the younger audience.
The good news is that TGW held onto their lead-in from MS, which means people are interested to see how things end. Bad news for CBS is that people bailed at 10pm for Elementary.

    • Boiler says:

I understand why it got a 1.0 demo. The big thing is why someone seems to think this demo is accurate for todays population. Maybe when no one watches network TV anymore they will wake up. It is ridiculous to think that a show with more than twice the viewers is worse for advertisers because of an artificial number

  6. SHONDA LAUREL says:

Quantico has lost more than half there audience since the premiere. I hope they are making serious changes for S2.
