Reign Sneak Peek: Elizabeth Names Her Successor, Gasps Abound

Your response to Reign‘s latest twist will, as always, depend on how much of a history buff you are.

Following weeks of pressure from her inner circle, Elizabeth finally announces her successor in TVLine’s exclusive clip from Monday’s episode (The CW, 8/7c) — and it rhymes with Larry, Queen of Spots!

Of course, Elizabeth’s announcement is just one step in Mary’s next journey, which star Adelaide Kane tells TVLine will continue to unfold as Season 3 draws to a close.

“It’s a whole new chapter, a whole new country and a whole new court,” Kane says. “There will be new friends and new enemies. We’re gearing up for some really big storylines in Season 4. Mary’s life didn’t even really start until she got to Scotland; that’s when things really kicked off for her. France was a lovely interlude, but it was only a small part of her life.”

Sadly, there won’t be any room for Bash in this next chapter; Torrance Coombs plans to exit the CW drama at the end of the season.

“It’s a bummer, but Bash doesn’t have a lot of traction in Scotland,” Kane concedes. “His storyline soon will come to its conclusion, and his character has other avenues to explore that might not necessarily be on screen.”

    Funny how this contradicts history.

Yes, they are basically trashing history all over the place. I have to admit I never started watching Reign because, in the end, Elizabeth is my girl and the only way for Reign to work was to totally misrepresent her.

  2. I be enjoyed this season along with the addition of Queen Elizabeth and Rachel was perfect in the role

Mistake to loose Bash but they haven’t used him much for a long time. Hope his new show goes well.

It’s been an awesome show so far. .it does stray from history a bit but they do it in a way that keeps us informed about history at the same time it has a days of our lives twist to it..it’s amazing how francis died only one year after being crown king of France and Mary and francis were only married for a year. I just hope they don’t show marys beheading g . I think that would be in poor taste..i know in real life she married a man who was murdered then married his cousin or something like that..ends up having king james the 1st who becomes king of England. .i think she should have taken king Henry’s advice in season 1 and taken the throne of England like he wanted her to..if elezabeth would have never been queen england would have stayed catholic and it would have impacted the world we live in today. .the American colonys would have been different i think
