500 Questions Ken Jennings

ABC's 500 Questions Books Jeopardy Legend Ken Jennings for Season 2

“Game Show History” for $500, Alex.

This Jeopardy wunderkind will attempt to make lightning strike twice as a contestant on ABC’s 500 Questions.

Who is… Ken Jennings?

Correct! Congratulations! Well done! Now, keep reading for the full story behind that painfully cheesy lede.

TVLine has confirmed that Jennings — whose 74-game winning streak remains a Jeopardy record — will appear as a contestant in 500 Questions‘ two-hour Season 2 premiere on Thursday, May 26. (Season 2 will air as a five-night event, beginning May 26 and concluding Wednesday, June 1.)

Nightline‘s Dan Harris will serve as the show’s new host, replacing CNN’s Richard Quest.

Quick 500 Q refresher: The show tasks contestants with answering 500 general knowledge questions. The catch? If said player answers three questions incorrectly in a row he/she is eliminated. New to Season 2: a bonus two-minute lightning round.

During his 74-episode Jeopardy rout in 2004, Jennings pocketed a then-record $2,520,700.

  1. Kevin K says:

Hope Ken Jennings will crush the competition. Trebek should be very proud of him.

  2. Rob Horine says:

There isn’t no reason to run this throughout the summer. Either that or wait till The View is (hopefully soon) canceled and run this and a daily Match Game (without Alec Baldwin) in it’s place.

    • Lyn says:

I’d go for that. As for Alec Baldwin, yikes! He can’t carry a film, how would he make it as a host? A good replacement for Gene Rayburn needs to be part charmer, part comedic and sly. A B-lister with a following. Alec is none of those. Eddie Izzard, Billy Gardell, Craig Ferguson, Rick Fox or David Spade would be better choices.

  3. CMG says:

Man, am I glad to hear Richard Quest is out. Dan Harris might be a little bland, but Quest was and remains a giant blowhard.

    • DrJ says:

Amen to that. Richard Quest drove me crazy with his “FIVE!HUNDRED!QUESTIONS!” I loved this show and I’ll be watching. :-)

  4. T says:

I like Richard Quest- He does a lot of cool quiz shows in the UK and I rather enjoy his snark.

  5. Billy Bob Johnson says:

    Winner Pig!

  6. I want to know ken’s rival’s last name “Monica ?” any one know?

  7. Peter Johansson says:

+Well, I couldn’t find a way to communicate this to the game show staff while it was still current.

The research staff should be made aware that an error slipped through their fingers tonight.

“AFL-CIO” is NOT an acronym, it is a mere alphabetization.

An acronym is generated by performing surgery on the subject words and recombining some of the fragments to form a new word, the acronym. As in “radar”: radio discovery and ranging.
