Kingdom Wendy Moniz Frank Grillo

Kingdom: Wendy Moniz Cast as Love Interest for Real-Life Hubby Frank Grillo

Dinah and Hart, reunited!

To the six of you who understood that reference, congratulations. To everyone else, listen up: Kingdom is staging a Guiding Light reunion!

Wendy Moniz, recently seen in House of Cards Season 4, is joining DirecTV’s MMA drama as a major new love interest for her onetime GL squeeze (and current real-life husband) Frank Grillo, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Moniz will appear in multiple episodes as Roxanne Dunn, a smart, stylish and tough attorney who can stand toe-to-toe with Grillo’s Alvey. She’ll first appear during Season 2B, which kicks off Wednesday, June 1 at 9/8c on DirecTV’s Audience Network.

This marks the couple’s first significant onscreen pairing since their late-’90s Guiding Light collaboration (they also previously co-starred together in the short-lived NBC drama Battery Park).

Comments are monitored, so don’t go off topic, don’t frakkin’ curse and don’t bore us with how much your coworker’s sister-in-law makes per hour. Talk smart about TV!

  1. Nicole Walker says:

Totally got it. Soap opera fan love never dies:)

Good for Frank. Between this series, The Purge, and Captain America he’s keeping busy!

  2. Bwhit says:

I love this show and especially the way Frank plays Alvey! I just hope Lisa isn’t gone for good.

  3. Judith says:

Wendy is more beautiful than ever. She was great on GL and so was Frank.

  4. Cate53 says:

Anyone remember Wendy Moniz from The Guardian with Simon Baker? Loved her on that and always looked out for her since. Glad she has another role coming up

  5. matty says:

Of course I got that reference! Soap fans never forget about their beloved soaps! Dinah and Hart were big parts of my childhood. I still miss Guiding Light every day.

  6. Amy says:

Your Guiding Light reference made my day.

  7. Robin says:

I understood the GL reference :-)

  8. Lisa G says:

I still miss GL. Whenever I see Frank Grillo I immediately think of him as Hart. Which makes watching things like Captain America somewhat amusing. ;)

    • ChrisGa says:

Same; I immediately think of Hart and GL anytime I see Frank–or Wendy–in any project. I mean, Hart and Dinah were no Cruz and Eden from SB–and really, is anybody?–but I enjoyed them on GL.

  9. Chicago Dan says:

There’s more than 6. LOL Wendy Moniz is fantastic. She would’ve been great as Lucifer’s ‘Mom.’

  10. John Davis says:

I love this show. Can’t wait!

  11. Cookie126 says:

Ha! I think there are more than 6 of us. Guiding Light was the main soap my mom loved. It also brings back such happy memories of my grandmother who only spoke Spanish but she knew everything that was happening on all the CBS soaps.

  12. Liza says:

    I still miss Guiding Light!!

  13. Jen says:

Thank you for the Guiding Light reference. I watched that soap everyday with my mom while I was growing up.

  14. tvlover44 says:

loved the GL shout-out – like others, i still miss it so much!

  15. Tim says:

Hart & Dinah reunited! Loved Wendy Moniz as bad girl Dinah Marler on Guiding Light. Together with Frank Grillo, they made a hot onscreen couple! Thanks for the GL mention!

  16. ldylkngb says:

So does that mean Time Warner won’t be getting it? I love them and have ever since GL!

  17. Akir says:
