Elementary Casts Tony Curran

Elementary Casts Defiance Alum as Professor With Moriarty Connection

Even without a reappearance, Natalie Dormer’s duplicitous Jamie Moriarty continues to haunt CBS’ Elementary.

Defiance vet Tony Curran will guest-star in the final two episodes of Season 4 as Joshua Vikner, an economics professor who has more than an academic interest in the villainess, TVLine has learned exclusively.

Professor Vikner has much to teach Sherlock and his father, Morland, about the past, in addition to playing a large role in their future.

Curran — whose TV credits also include Daredevil, Sons of Anarchy, The Pillars of the Earth, 24 and Medium — makes his debut in Episode 23, airing May 1.

  2. Alex Jones says:

I’m hoping moriaty make return for the 100th episode next year.

  3. Murray Maza says:

    A most appropriate villain.
While on the subject of villainy, Elementary’s new placement on the schedule is criminal. In time you participants in its production will be able to confirm this fact.

I agree that CBS hurting this show by pitting it on Sunday. The main reason is CBS’ lack of caring about their fans of all Sunday shows with sports over runs. This is a fun show and deserves better.

  4. Luis says:

He’ll always be Vincent van Gogh to me

  5. Peri says:

Finally, thank the Lord, a proper antagonist. Fans have been saying for two years now that Moriarty needed to have an accomplice. Of course, we’ve been saying for four years that we need to see Watson’s biodad, and that hasn’t happened either, so…

  6. pooismylife says:

Please let him be some sort of a serial killer or else, just let him be an interesting villain with the exciting and interesting arc, PLEASE. Dammit, Elementary, just give me some breathtaking storyline and stimulus to keep watching your show, or is it so much to ask?

  7. Piccolodiavolo says:

The text doesn’t say with any word that Vikner is a villain, just that he has more than an academic inerest in Moriarty. He might as well be a nice guy.

  8. Kate Shoop says:

Its important to note he was the most devastating character in Doctor Who history: Vincent van Gogh

WE HAVE BEEN SHERLOCK HOLMES FANS FOR MANY YEARS. WE ENJOYED THIS SERIES WHEN IT FIRST STARTED. HOWEVER, THE SOUND HAS TO BE IMPROVED WHEN SHERLOCK DOES HIS LINES. HE SPEAKS RAPIDLY, TOO SOFTLY AND OFTEN DRIFTS OFF INTO A MUMBLE. NO, WE ARE NOT HARD OF HEARING.

    • Harun says:

And you felt the urge to write this in caps?

      • pooismylife says:

Actually people have been complaining about bad sound in Elementary for YEARS now, but cbs still hasn’t do anything to fix this problem, so writing in caps seems like a last desperate move and extreme measure
