Gilmore Girls Revival Stacey Oristano

Gilmore Girls Revival Adds Bunheads Alum Stacey Oristano as Guest Star

Amy Sherman-Palladino is relocating another one of her beloved Bunheads to Stars Hollow.

The Gilmore Girls creator has tapped Stacey Oristano (aka shopkeeper Truly in ASP’s late, short-lived ABC Family dramedy), to join Netflix’s forthcoming GG revival in a top-secret, guest-starring role.

This brings to three the number of Bunheads regulars appearing in the four-episode continuation, following Sutton Foster (in a TBA role) and, of course, Kelly Bishop (as Gilmore matriarch Emily).

Sherman-Palladino and exec producer Daniel Palladino are writing and directing all four 90-minute episodes/mini-movies. As TVLine exclusively revealed, each chapter will represent a different season over the course of one calendar year (as such, the episodes will be titled “Winter,” Spring,” Summer” and “Fall”). The revival will be set in the present day, or roughly eight years after the series ended.

Actually that makes the Bunheads alums 4. The blonde one from Faking It is also in it. The guy who plays Andrew tweeted a pic with her.

    • hiliv says:

5, I guess, because Paris was on Bunheads.

      • Elsa Reinsch says:

Well by those standards. Kelly Bishop, Liza Weil, Gregg Henry, Rose Abdoo, Chris Eigeman, Sean Gunn, Todd Lowe, Alex Borstein, and Biff Yeager

    • Elsa Reinsch says:

If your not counting people who were on Gilmore Girls first. It would be three. Sutton Foster, Bailey De Young, and Stacey Oristano.

  2. Ellen says:

You’re missing some Hep Alien folks in your Revival Photo Gallery.

  3. MJ says:

I am getting worried they are pushing way too many people into the Gilmore Girls 4 episodes and they will not be that good because they are trying to put all these people in them.

    • abz says:

I am a little concerned too, but Stars Hollow was basically like a character on its own. The townspeople were part of the fabric of the show and the show was always full of them whether they were just briefly interacting with them in the diner or passing them by on the street. And let’s not forget the always fun town meetings. I’m thinking they will focus on the core three (Lorelai, Rory, and Emily) and use the townspeople as needed.

      • tsevca says:

That is true, of course. But trying to squeeze in actors from Bunheads to ease Palladino´s hurt ego is too much. Not just because the number of people increases, but if Bunheads were so loved, their fans can surely secure their own revival. Every second spend on them is a second that could have been with our GG loved ones and isn´t.

    • Justaguess says:

I really think some of these new characters will probably just be in one or a few scenes, interacting with the older and new characters, and may be spread out over the episodes.

    • James says:

I don’t think it’s something to be worried about.

Besides, casting people from the same past show doesn’t mean they will play characters that would suddenly take over an existing show. it doesn’t really work that way.

It’s like saying you can’t cast GG alums on a Bunheads revival because they might displace the returing cast who are already there.

  4. Stacy says:

I LOVED Oristano on Bunheads. Truly was my favorite, most Stars Hollow-ish character. I’m glad ASP is bringing her back.

  5. Ana Goldani says:

Julia Goldani Telles from Show Time, “The Affair” is another Bunheads in the Revival of Gilmore Girls

  6. MeowMeow says:

BRING BACK BUNHEADS! That show was so great, ABC Family should have never cut it.

  7. Sally says:

    Yay! Mindy Riggins on GG!

  8. Rosemary says:

Enough with those ridiculous bunheads. Nobody cares about The Bunheads. And what kind of an asinine name is “Truly”?

  9. faulknerjer says:

She’ll always be Tyra Collete’s sister/Billy Riggins’ wife. She was arguably deserving of an Emmy nod for Friday Night Lights’ fifth season. Goodness, I miss FNL.

I too am worried that all these cameos and stuffing in every actor that’s ever appeared on Gilmore girls and practically every actor ASP has worked with will make these revival episodes feel gimmicky and too heavy with plot. And “heavy on plot” has never been Gilmore girls’ thing. I fear that ASP is caught up in wish fulfillment for herself and all the fans instead of focused on telling a satisfying, interesting, sometimes funny story. I hope I’m wrong.

  10. Rachel says:

I thought this was a Gilmore Girls revival not Bunheads.
